I have submitted my resignation as the Honourable Minister’s representative on the Council of the Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW), with immediate effect.
This decision has not been taken lightly. As a fervent animal lover and a veterinarian, I joined the Council, with a sincere commitment to contribute meaningfully to the welfare and protection of animals. It was both an honour and a responsibility to serve in this capacity, with the hope of supporting an institution dedicated to such an important cause.
However, I have reached a point where I am no longer able to continue in this role without compromising my principles. A statutory body entrusted with public responsibility must operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Regrettably, I have observed persistent deficiencies in governance.
I have raised my concerns through the appropriate channels. Unfortunately, these issues have not been adequately addressed. Under such circumstances, I cannot, in good conscience, continue to be associated with or lend my name to practices that conflict with my professional and personal principles.
Animal welfare deserves leadership that is ethical, accountable, and fully committed to its mission. While I remain deeply passionate about advocating for animals, I believe stepping down is the most responsible course of action at this time. I will continue to save and protect animals in my personal capacity, as I have always done.
I take this opportunity to thank the Honourable Minister, Dr Arvin Boolell, for the trust he placed in me. I hold him in great respect and remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under his nomination for the past one year.
I leave this position with my integrity intact and a clear conscience.
