Most of my patients leave my practice with a lipstick mark on their faces 💋. My love for animals is unconditional, and each one of them holds a special place in my heart......they are all my babies ❤️.
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and fur mothers. May your day be filled with the same unconditional love you give so freely every day. 🌸🐾❤️

My parents sponsored a well for a village in Madagascar, where the villagers once had to walk kilometres every day just to access water. That single gesture transformed the lives of so many people. It reminded me that even one act of kindness can create a lasting impact. I’ve always believed that if each one of us does our part, we truly can change the world..... the same applies to animals.

This story is very close to my heart, it’s Moustik’s story. Those who know me already know her journey, along with the stories of so many others that we've helped.
Moustik was abandoned on my property with her mum. My dad found them and asked me to take a look. The mother dog was incredibly sweet, but Moustik was a feisty little thing. When I tried to catch her, she bit my finger hard enough to make it bleed, but I still managed to bring her in my practice. She looked severely dehydrated and was nothing but skin and bones. So I put her on drip.
A few minutes after starting her on fluids, my treatment table turned red with bloody diarrhea. She had parvo. 😞
I closed my practice for 5 days just to take care of her, day and night and through sleepless nights. I will never forget that first night , it was the night of Mahashivaratree. While I was treating her, I could hear the prayers coming from the temple down the road and thought that there's no biggest prayer than to help the helpless.
Today, Moustik is living her best life, surrounded by endless love. Every time I look at her, I’m reminded why I do what I do. I feel so privileged and grateful to be able to help these angels ❤️

During my one-year tenure on the MSAW council, my contribution extended far beyond attending meetings. I actively served on the Investigation Sub-Committee for Clinglobal and took the initiative to develop and submit three proposals to MSAW Management via email:
1.Requirements for the construction of regional dog shelters (at the request of the Ministry) – created on 14 May 2025

2.Proposal for an online reporting platform for veterinarians to report suspected animal cruelty – created on 11 September 2025

3.Proposal for the creation of a centralized microchip database for dogs and cats in Mauritius – created on 11 September 2025

In addition, a few board members, myself included, dedicated significant time and personal resources outside of formal Council meetings to advance MSAW’s work.

I have read many comments circulating since yesterday, particularly regarding the notion of a “big paycheck.” Let me be clear: the sitting fee for meetings did not even cover my transport expenses. When you commit to a cause as important as animal welfare, financial gain is not the driving factor. Your priority is, and should always be, the wellbeing of animals.

I have never been one to publicise or seek recognition for the work I do. However, given the current circumstances, I feel it is important to set the record straight.

30/04/2026

I have submitted my resignation as the Honourable Minister’s representative on the Council of the Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW), with immediate effect.

This decision has not been taken lightly. As a fervent animal lover and a veterinarian, I joined the Council, with a sincere commitment to contribute meaningfully to the welfare and protection of animals. It was both an honour and a responsibility to serve in this capacity, with the hope of supporting an institution dedicated to such an important cause.

However, I have reached a point where I am no longer able to continue in this role without compromising my principles. A statutory body entrusted with public responsibility must operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Regrettably, I have observed persistent deficiencies in governance.

I have raised my concerns through the appropriate channels. Unfortunately, these issues have not been adequately addressed. Under such circumstances, I cannot, in good conscience, continue to be associated with or lend my name to practices that conflict with my professional and personal principles.

Animal welfare deserves leadership that is ethical, accountable, and fully committed to its mission. While I remain deeply passionate about advocating for animals, I believe stepping down is the most responsible course of action at this time. I will continue to save and protect animals in my personal capacity, as I have always done.

I take this opportunity to thank the Honourable Minister, Dr Arvin Boolell, for the trust he placed in me. I hold him in great respect and remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under his nomination for the past one year.

I leave this position with my integrity intact and a clear conscience.
