Persian cats are among the most loving and affectionate companions, but they are also delicate and require dedicated owners who are prepared to provide lifelong care.

At just 3 years old, Basil had already been passed from one owner to another before ending up in our care. We were initially asked to help rehome him and arranged for one of our fosterers to take him in while we searched for a new home. Based on the photos we were shown, Basil appeared healthy.

The reality was very different.

Basil was suffering from severe diarrhoea, covered in sores, his ears were full of mites, and he was unable to urinate. Our fosterer rushed him to the vet, where it was discovered that his bladder was full and he was in excruciating pain. A catheter was inserted, and thankfully Basil slowly started to improve.

While he is now able to urinate on his own, he still requires treatment for his diarrhoea and ongoing veterinary care. He will also need to be retested for FIV, as his initial result was inconclusive.

Cases like Basil's leave us heartbroken and angry. No cat should be left to suffer in this condition. We can only hope he was not used for irresponsible breeding.

For now, Basil is safe, loved, and receiving the care he deserves thanks to his dedicated foster family.

We also urge breeders to look beyond whether a buyer can afford the purchase price and ensure they are capable of providing a lifetime of proper care and support.

Following the explosion that happened this morning in Malta, we just want to reassure everyone that our shelter, team and all the cats are safe โค๏ธ

The cats were startled and scared at the moment of the initial explosion but a few minutes later they were back to eating their breakfast as usual ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฑ

Thankfully, there was no damage at the shelter.

Layla, a beautiful, super friendly kitten, approx 4.5 months old is waiting for her forever home โค๏ธ

Layla had a ruptured eye which needed removal. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, deflead, dewormed and tested negative to fiv/felv. She will soon be spayed.

Layla will demand love! She loves her head and neck scratched, and when it is time for cuddles, she will not hesitate to make her little meowy voice heard ๐Ÿ˜ป

Layla is a very friendly, sweet and lovimg little girl, who would make an excellent addition to most homesโค๏ธ

Meet Pantera ๐Ÿ–ค

This beautiful 1 year old girl was rescued from dangerous roadside conditions together with her kittens, all of whom have now found loving homes. Pantera is now waiting for her own forever family ๐Ÿ˜ป She will be neutered soon before adoption.

She is shy, gentle and very calm. Having never lived in a home before, she will need patient adopters who can give her time to adjust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she enjoys soft cuddles and quiet companionship ๐Ÿ–ค

Requirements for adoption:

โœ”๏ธ Foreigners must have been living in Malta for at least 3 years

โœ”๏ธ Rental homes must provide proof that pets are allowed

โœ”๏ธ No previous history of pet rehoming

Meet Luna, a beautiful 6 year old neutered cat with quite the character ๐Ÿซก

Once Luna feels safe and comfortable, she enjoys companionship and shows her affectionate side... though always on her own terms ๐Ÿ˜‰ However, she is currently struggling in her current environment and would greatly benefit from a home as the only pet, where she can feel secure and respected.

Luna is a sensitive cat who likely experienced trauma in the past and because of this, she can become anxious, jealous or reactive at times. She is not an โ€œeasyโ€ cat and will need someone patient, experienced with feline behaviour and willing to give her the time and space she needs to adjust.

A True Story of Love, Loyalty and Commitment ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค

Around 3 years ago, Zoe was adopted by a foreign couple who gave him not just a home, but a family ๐Ÿ˜ป From day one, Zoe adored his pawrents deeply, especially his mama ๐Ÿ™‚ He became part of their everyday life, their routines and their hearts ๐Ÿ’•

Throughout these 3 years, they remained one of those special families who always kept in touch with us, sending updates and photos of Zoe and sharing how loved and happy he was ๐Ÿค— Messages like theirs always warm our hearts and remind us why rescue and adoption matter so much ๐Ÿฅน

Recently, the couple had to return to their home country, Colombia. For many people, moving abroad with a pet can seem difficult, stressful and expensiveโ€ฆ but for Zoeโ€™s family, leaving him behind was never an option.

They prepared everything needed so Zoe could travel safely with them. His journey was long... first to Madrid, then another 9 hour flight to Colombia but through it all, Zoe stayed exactly where he belonged: with his family

Today, Zoe is safe, loved, and happy in Colombia.

Stories like this deserve to be shared because they teach an important lesson: pets are not temporary. They are not toys to give away when life changes. They are family for life.

When there is true love and commitment, people find a way. No matter how difficult things become, you do not give up on the ones who trust and love you unconditionally.
