🎉 Rolo turns 7 today! 💐🎂❤️
To celebrate, we took an early birthday trip to beautiful Gdańsk, Poland 🇵🇱
As always, Rolo was the best travel buddy — excited to walk for hours, napping in restaurants, and ready to sniff every corner of a new city! 🌆🐾
We drove all the way from Daugavpils, Latvia — about 12 hours on the road (a bit shorter if you're coming from Rīga). I made an adjustable safety lead before our trip, so Rolo stayed safely buckled in the whole time. Usually, I use his car safety seat, but this time, we had to downsize due to lack of available space in the car. We stopped 4-5 times along the way to stretch and recharge.
Our apartment in Gdańsk was pet-friendly (I confirmed with the owners before booking — let me know if you want the listing!). It was in a new building, just a 15-minute drive from the city centre, and had everything we needed. The apartment stayed cool during hot days, but it was not equipped with the best soundproofing, but the price was amazing 😍
Over the next few days, we explored Gdańsk and nearby towns — and let me just say, this has been one of the most dog-friendly cities in Poland we’ve visited so far! Rolo was welcomed in restaurants and parks (we always asked first!), and the only places we skipped were the churches — just to be respectful, since I wasn’t sure about the pet policy.
For the nature parts, I used a water repellent harness, and for the warm city exploring days, I used 100% lightweight cotton harnesses.
Now we’re back in Riga, soaking up more of our summer vacation and giving Rolo lots of birthday cuddles 💛🐶
