We provide quality veterinary care to stray animals as well as refuge and rehabilitation. We have a beautiful free roaming animal sanctuary in the south of Sri Lanka which provides a safe haven for sick, disabled and vulnerable stray dogs. We have an on-site veterinary clinic with a resident local vet and are operational every day of the week providing lifesaving treatment and care to sick and inj

ured animals. We also operate weekly neutering/ rabies vaccination programs in the local area, adoption schemes and animal welfare education.

Our beautiful siblings Manuka and Sycamore.
They were dumped at the sanctuary a year ago as tiny pups. They were a litter of 5.
Oak, their brother, was adopted and the others remain with us.

These lovely dogs are gentle and super calm. They desperately need their forever homes and will be loyal and faithful companions.

Please let us know if you can open your heart and home to these cuties.. 🐶🐕💕

More dumpings and they are starving !!! 😡😡
How are we expected to survive when only a handful of our 2400 rescues are sponsored ?🤷‍♀️
For every dumped animal, it means more expense and more pressure on the charity.

Every new admission incurs huge costs- full blood tests, testing for parvo and distemper, treatments for internal and external parasites, tropical diseases, vaccinations, food, neutering ....

More animals means employing more staff to care for them, building more puppy compounds.. the list goes on and on... plus we lack space as we have no funds to expand.

Maginto came to us in August 2023. He ate baited food - hakkapatas, and his jaw was shattered.

He was like a skeleton when he arrived, was so weak we thought he would die. He had botched surgery elsewhere that added to his suffering and general decline. Most would have given up the fight for him.

But, we never give up on them at Animal SOS and this is the result.
Maginto is a healthy and rather chubby boy now. He enjoys his food and embraces his second chance at life.

We have many hakkapatas survivors at the sanctuary as we are constantly picking up the pieces of man's inhumanity.
We also face huge battles to remain there for them, but we believe that love and justice must prevail in the end. It has to...

23 cats and dogs sterilised. (6 cats and 17 dogs).
30 anti-rabies vaccines given plus mange treatments (Advocate)

A fruitful day that reduces animal suffering and unwanted litters.

Dumpings galore, both outside the sanctuary gates and where the managers stay... it's endless.😡😡
We offer free neutering too, but it's easier to dump on us and then complain about the dogs at the sanctuary...The mindset beggars belief.
Now more mouths to feed, treat, vaccinate, nurse back to health and all the rest, when we are struggling for survival..
It's a harsh environment to help animals.
