Moenkhausia cotinho WILD “rio Curuá”
Sunshine Moenkhausia
A beautiful Moenkhausia cotinho from rio Curuá, Brazil.
The Moenkhausia coming from the Curuá River have a very distinctive character of their own.
This form shows a slim body with a glowing gold to amber coloration.
It is not a flashy fluorescent type of beauty, but rather a color that rises softly depending on how the light hits it.
The balance with its slightly reddish eye is also excellent, and once placed in an aquascape, it has far more presence than one might expect.
Among the many Moenkhausia, this is clearly a type with a different kind of appeal.
Its texture and atmosphere feel quite different from the more common species.
A subtle but highly attractive fish for those who appreciate nuance over obvious flash.

Moenkhausia chlorophthalma WILD “rio Curuá”
A formally described species known from the rio Curuá system around Serra do Ca****bo.
Moenkhausia chlorophthalma was described in 2010, and is best recognized by its green shining eye and the dark marking around the base of the adipose fin.
When this fish first appeared in the trade, it was often seen as just one of the fish mixed in with the so-called “Purple Rainbow Kogal.”
Because of that, it was not often recognized properly as a distinct species on its own.
In recent years, however, this fish has begun to appear on lists independently, and its presence as a species in its own right has become much clearer.
It is not the kind of fish that demands attention at first glance, but once settled, it develops a very distinctive charm in the eye color and overall body tone.
Among the beautiful Moenkhausia from the Ca****bo region, this species has its own subtle character.
The fact that fish like this are now being imported separately is also an interesting change in the trade itself.
A fine choice for those who prefer to select fish by atmosphere and nuance, rather than obvious flash.

Moenkhausia solaris WILD “Serra do Ca****bo”
also known in the trade as Moenkhausia solaris “Sinatra”
This species first arrived at our shop in June 2025 under the invoice name “Moenkhausia sp. Sinatra.”
At the time, the fish had not yet developed its full coloration, and the differences from its close relative Moenkhausia chlorophthalma were still unclear, so we decided not to introduce it right away.
Later, in October 2025, it arrived again under the invoice name Moenkhausia solaris / Sinatra.
After keeping and conditioning them carefully in our tanks, the true beauty of this species became much clearer.
Well-settled specimens develop reddish tones in the caudal fin and adipose fin, along with a distinctive coloration in the eye.
These features match very well with the formally described species Moenkhausia solaris, described in 2025 from the Curuá system around Serra do Ca****bo and the upper Teles Pires.
For that reason, it seems most natural to regard the fish long traded under the name “Sinatra” as this newly described species.
In Japan, the trade name and scientific name still seem to be not fully organized yet, but once properly settled and conditioned, this fish transforms into something far more beautiful than its plain first impression suggests.
This is not a species that shows everything at first glance.
Its true value only becomes apparent with time and careful keeping.
A refined and highly rewarding characin from Serra do Ca****bo —
highly recommended for true lovers of rare tetras.

Hyphessobrycon kantoui（カントウイ） WILD タパジョス産

2021年に記載された、ブラジル・パラ州サンタレン近郊のマイカ湖に注ぐ支流に生息する。
固有の新種カラシンだそうです。


H. heterorhabdusに似た赤・金・黒の三色ラインを持ちますが、
肩の黒斑の形状と**遺伝的な違い（COI遺伝子で約9.6%差）**から別種になったようです。

タパジョス中流上流から来るcf.heterorhabdusとは、よく似てますが別種となります。

Hyphessobrycon sp. “San Ramón Red Spot”
（ハイフェソブリコン sp. “サンラモン・レッドスポット”）
2024年新着のテトラです。

ペルー・フニン州、サン・ラモンの高地アマゾン水系「リオ・ペレネ」上流域にて採集された、

未記載のハイフェソブリコン属の美麗種。

本種の最大の特徴は、肩部に現れる鮮やかな赤と黒のスポット模様。
グリーンゴールドの半透明の体色と相まって、水草レイアウト水槽の中でもひときわ個性を放ちます。

ペレネ川上流域は年間を通して水質が安定しており、現地では石や落ち葉が多く沈む、やや流れのある清流環境。
そのため、本種も弱酸性〜中性の軟水〜中硬水、25〜27℃程度の水温で非常に調子よく泳ぎます。

原産地のローカリティが明確で、かつ記載のない珍種であることから、観賞魚としてだけでなくコレクション価値も高い1種です。

正体不明の“マクロレピス”、鮮烈な彩りで当店では初入荷!!

極めて流通量の少ないマイナー種「フェナゴニアテス・マクロレピス」。

その名を知る人はいても、実物を目にした経験のあるアクアリストはほとんどいないでしょう。



今回、コロンビア西部から正式なインボイスで入荷した本個体群は、
かつて流通したことのあるマクロレピスと比べて、体色が明らかに異なります。

半透明の細身の体に、側線沿いの深い紺色のラインと、上部に淡く黄色味を帯びたラインが走り、
さらに尾鰭には鮮やかな赤が差すという、印象的な色彩を備えています。

分布域・色彩・体型の違いから、今回はあえて「cf.（近縁種）」としての扱いとさせていただきます。

国内で見る機会は極めて稀なうえ、今回のような特徴を持つ個体はほぼ未確認。
種の再検討が必要と思えるほどの、注目すべき入荷です。

ゴールドストライプ・ニュータイガープレコ
学名：Panaqolus sp.
産地：ブラジル・リオ・デミニ（Rio Demini）

ブラジル・ネグロ川水系の支流、リオ・デミニ産のワイルド個体。
濃い茶褐色の地肌に金色がかった縞模様が入り、
海外では “Gold Stripe Tiger Pleco” の名称でも知られています。

Panaqolus 属に分類される本種は、
最大でも12cm前後と比較的小型種で、
水槽内でも扱いやすい小型プレコ。
食性は雑食性で、植物質を中心に動物質の餌にもよく反応します。

デミニ産の明記された入荷は多くなく、
産地にこだわる方にもおすすめの種です。
