⚠️ Sticks Aren't Safe Toys for Dogs! ⚠️

Many dogs love chasing and carrying sticks, but they can be surprisingly dangerous.

🪵 Sticks can:
• Become lodged across the roof of the mouth
• Splinter and cause painful injuries to the tongue, gums, throat, or oesophagus
• Break into sharp fragments that can be swallowed
• Lead to serious infections or require emergency surgery

🍢 Barbecue skewers are even more dangerous!
These sharp wooden or metal sticks can easily puncture the mouth, throat, stomach, or intestines if swallowed. Even a small piece can cause life-threatening internal injuries.

If your dog has:
❗ Excessive drooling
❗ Pawing at the mouth
❗ Difficulty eating or swallowing
❗ Bleeding from the mouth
❗ Vomiting or signs of pain

Contact your vet immediately.

Instead of sticks, choose safer dog toys designed for chewing and retrieving. A quick game of fetch shouldn't end in an emergency visit!

What an incredible evening at the Creative Sound Charity Concert in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind last night. 💛🐾🎶

Wexford Vet Hospital was proud to be one of the sponsors alongside the wonderful Lord Leroy’s Lodge and Pawzone, supporting this special event as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

The talent on display was simply outstanding, with performances from the Creative Sound Workplace Choir, Katie Mercer, Kilmore Community Choir, Rachel Grace, Cormac on violin, Anam Choir, and Valda Chamber Choir. Every performance filled the room with heart, passion, and beautiful music.

A huge thank you to Ruth Gallagher for organising such a fantastic event. Your hard work, dedication, and vision brought together an evening full of love, community spirit, and support for such a worthwhile cause.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. The atmosphere was truly special, and we were honoured to be part of it.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the night such a success. ❤️
