If the hair around the pe**le sheath is too long urine sticks to it and bacteria feeds on the urine setting up a yellow discharge which can travel up the urethra leading to cystitis or even a kidney infection. So grooming around the sheath is very important to prevent infection.

Grooming around the bum is very important and should be done every 6 weeks to prevent f***s from sticking to it.

Dog grooming for a dog is different to humans going to the hairdresser. There is a welfare aspect to it as when a dogs coat gets too long the hair gets matted and dirty leading to skin infections, discomfort and infections around the house. During Covid Lockdown dogs not requiring grooming should wait til the end of Lockdown before going to the groomer. Dogs that need grooming to prevent spread of disease, or treat discomfort to the animal, should be brought to the front door of Hurley's Veterinary Hospital by the owner, who should wear a mask. The owner should not come inside. This protects the owner but also the veterinary staff inside. On collection the dog will be brought outside to the waiting owner. At present GROOMING at Hurley's is at HALF PRICE.
