Maeve has gained lots of experience in small animal referral practice here and in the UK. She has a special interest in emergency and intensive care nursing.

Meet Allison - a member of our wonderful nursing team ✨

May is Veterinary Nursing awareness month so we felt it was the perfect time to introduce you all to the team!

Allison changed profession by returning to education in order to become a registered veterinary nurse and qualified in 2021 with St. John’s college in Cork. She has been part of the team of Millstreet Veterinary Group since.

‘It’s the best move I’ve ever made and is fulfilling a lifelong wish of working with animals. Everyday brings new challenges and rewards. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my gorgeous Newfie, Jess, as pictured, and my beautiful 3 legged cat, Willow’

Meet Brandy 🐈 a gorgeous gentleman who recently visited our cardiologist Jane for a heart scan ❤️ Brandy was a lovely boy during his visit with us and had Jane and nurses Ciara and Allison who assisted with his heart scan absolutely charmed! 😍 Here he is having a snack at the halfway point of his heart scan 😋

🫣Pet owners often worry that their cat might find a heart scan too stressful - well Brandy is here to show that this doesn’t have to be the case! 🐈 Brandy benefited from taking some anti-anxiety medication at home prior to his scan, to help him feel more relaxed for his trip to the cardiologist. This combined with our calm, cat friendly approach meant that no additional sedation was needed to complete Brandy’s heart scan! ✨

Meet Mo our resident practice cat ❤️ Mo enjoys watching the day to day goings on in the practice, cuddles with the team (on her terms only of course…!) and is a big fan of a good snack. We have yet to see if she has any aptitude as a mouser though!

Mo joined our practice late last year and has become beloved by our team already ❤️🐈

Roxy visited our cardiologist Jane for a heart scan earlier this week ❤️

Here she is having a cuddle with wonderful nurse Ciara after being a little star patient for her heart scan!

Did you know that in most cases, a heart scan can be completed without any sedation? This makes it a very safe and useful tool for investigating heart murmurs!

Does your pet have a heart murmur? If so, a heart scan can help to find the cause and helps us to know if any treatment might be beneficial for your pet! If you would like to know more, contact us and we will be happy to discuss if a heart scan would be useful for your pet!
