Our Irish Draught mare, April, gave us yet another brilliant day out at the Dublin Horse Show on Thursday. We’ve always loved to add a touch of blood to the mix while keeping our breeding firmly along Traditional lines, and this year April’s 7-week-old foal, Leia was the sole entry in the part-bred Irish Draught class. The judges, stewards, and commentator Peter Quirke were wonderfully kind, and we’re truly grateful for their words of thanks for our support of the RDS.

April has consistently passed on her correct conformation and floating step to each of her five foals. Among them, we are fortunate to have two Traditional Irish Horse fillies who we hope will, in time, play their part in preserving and strengthening the Traditional herd.

Lovely educational day out today for Rua our 2 year old TIH filly at Tinahealy Show. The front end has some catching up to do with the back, she’s definitely not gonna be pony sized despite her daddy being the Connemara Glen More Fear Donn. She has definitely inherited his people loving sweetness ❤️

A fabulous day at Ossory Show - Leia had her very first day out age 6 weeks with mum April & was foot perfect throughout- both beautifully handled by Sam & Paddy. They placed 3rd in all their classes including the big TIH Championship Class. A lovely show with a welcoming atmosphere, firmly on the list for next year. Liz’s lovely mare & foal also having a super successful day out ❤️☘️

We collected Dempsey from big school today, he came home with a glowing school report.

Thanks to James O’Haire and all at Hawthorn Farm for giving him a great start under saddle, can’t wait to have a sit up!

We are going to see his namesake tonight in the Iveagh Gardens, while the boy has a well deserved holiday in the sun ☀️

Thanks to Liz Freeman for sharing these lovely photos of our TIH filly Rua. Liz bred Rua & she is by the lovely Connemara stallion Glenmore Fear Donn, who is currently standing in the UK. She is out of the well related Caramia Lion.

What a lovely temperament this filly has, delighted with her ❤️🍀
