Mission accomplished.

Today we officially handed over the ambulances, marking the culmination of months of fundraising, planning, and hard work. Seeing them ready to serve communities across Uganda was a proud and emotional moment for everyone involved.

Over the past week, we've witnessed first-hand the incredible work being done to support patients and families through palliative care services. We've met remarkable people, visited inspiring projects, and gained a deeper understanding of the challenges many communities face every day.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Dr. Anne Merriman Memorial Park. Dr. Anne dedicated her life to improving palliative care in Africa and pioneered the development of affordable liquid morphine, ensuring that thousands of patients could live with dignity and comfort. Her legacy continues to shape healthcare across Uganda and far beyond.

While the ambulances have now been handed over, what stays with me most are the people we met along the way—their resilience, kindness, and unwavering hope despite difficult circumstances.

A sincere thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, supported, shared our posts, or followed our journey. Every contribution played a part in making this mission possible.

The vehicles may have reached their destination, but their journey is only beginning.

As our journey nears an end 🇺🇬

Yesterday we spent time with some incredible children who are facing challenges no child should have to face, yet they still managed to fill the room with smiles, laughter and positivity. Their strength is truly inspiring.

It's hard to believe our journey is starting to come to an end. We've made memories that will stay with us forever and we're so grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way. 🌍🚑❤️

💚 A Day We Will Never Forget

Yesterday, as part of the Hope on Wheels journey, we had the privilege of visiting Kawempe Home Care and the New Hope Children's Hostel in Kampala.

Meeting the children, families, and dedicated care teams was a powerful reminder of why this mission matters. Seeing firsthand the compassion, dignity, and support provided to those facing life-limiting illnesses puts every mile of this journey into perspective.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed us, shared their stories, and showed us the incredible difference that palliative care makes every day.

Day 7 - Tororo to Jinja 🇺🇬❤️

We arrived in Jinja and visited Simba Wolfhounds Handball Club and Nile Óg Cusacks GAA Club. It was great to see the positive impact sport has on young people and local communities.

We finished the day with a BBQ hosted by a retired German doctor who helps support Jinja Hospice — another reminder of the incredible people we've met along this journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated footballs, children's books & toys, stickers and suitcases full of supplies before the trip — it's been incredible seeing them put to good use ❤️🙏

Days 5 & 6 🇰🇪🌍🇺🇬❤️

The last two days have been incredibly special as our journey continued through Kenya and into Uganda. Day 5 brought us to the Equator — a special moment and another reminder of the distance travelled and the purpose behind every mile of this journey 🚑🌍

Today we crossed the Kenya/Uganda border and received the warmest welcome at Tororo Hospice, where one of the ambulances will soon begin its new life serving the local community ❤️

Meeting the staff, patients and families reminded us exactly why this mission matters so much. We were honoured to hand over some of the donations sent all the way from Ireland and to spend time with such kind, inspiring people.

Every day on this trip continues to open our eyes to the incredible work being done here and the impact that generosity and support can make.

A huge thank you again to everyone who has donated, shared messages, supported fundraisers and followed the journey so far — it truly means the world to us ❤️🙏

First 4 days in Kenya 🇰🇪❤️ Uganda still to come 🇺🇬

The past few days have been an experience we’ll never forget. From meeting incredible people, visiting local communities and Nairobi Hospice, to seeing firsthand the impact that support and kindness can make — every day here has been both eye-opening and inspiring.

We’ve laughed, learned, and been reminded why this journey matters so much. So grateful to be here with the Hope on Wheels team alongside , and everyone involved 🌍🚑
