The Kildare Wildlife Rescue Helpdesk team got an email on Monday from a very worried lady in D15 who had found a snake in her compost bin and needed help!

I flew out to the house on my way home from work to find him boxed up and cozy in her greenhouse. It seems that he had been found a couple of days earlier and the lovely couple who had found him had spent the past couple of days calling around to all the local services they could think of looking for assistance, to no avail sadly!

This little one is settled here now, has received rehydration and electrolytes, is cozy, active and bright and is estimated to be about 1 to 2 years old. They have settled into foster while we tried to see if anybody had reported them as missing locally. We have some excellent contacts who should be able to help with rehoming, though so far the humans in this house have taken a real shine to this new, inquisitive little lodger! 😍🐍

Yesterday we said goodbye to our little old chinchilla Gizmo! She came to me the same way that so many of the other animals here do, I was given a sob story about her... that nobody wanted her because she had a cleft lip... they saw me coming a mile off!!!

We had 16 years of messing together.
She LOVED a good chin scratch and a sneaky treat but she definitely knew how to set her boundries. 😂
