Thank you so much for all your kind comments and messages. A special thanks to the other dog groomers from all over Ireland who reached out too, we have such a special community we can always rely on ❤️

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, my maternity leave cover has ended unexpectedly, leaving me without anyone to manage appointments for the remainder of my leave.

As many of you know, my little girl has only just turned three months old, so I had not planned to return to work quite yet. After carefully considering every option, I have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to temporarily close the salon.

This means I have had to say goodbye to my beautiful salon in Midleton, which has been absolutely beyond heartbreaking. I celebrated 10 years in business this June, and that salon represented everything I have worked towards since starting my career at just 17 years old. It was something I was incredibly proud of.

For the past two years, I invested my time into training maternity cover so I could step away to spend precious time with my family.
Sadly, despite all that planning, things have not worked out as expected, and I have found myself in a position where I have had to choose between returning to work before I was ready or putting my family first.

I have already contacted everyone whose appointments have been affected. Please note that the number 0874411901 is no longer in use. After next week I will be turning off the muddy puppy phone and logging out of this page until I have an update ( hopefully soon so watch this space).

While this chapter has been incredibly difficult, it isn’t the end. We already have a Plan B in the works, and I’m hopeful for what comes next. Please keep an eye on this page over the coming weeks for updates.

I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your patience, understanding, and support over the past 10 years. Your loyalty has meant the world to me, and I can’t wait to welcome you all back to Muddy Puppy 2.0 in the near future. ❤️

You might have seen in the news today that hairdressers and barbers are celebrating a well-deserved reduction in their VAT rates. While we are genuinely thrilled for our friends in the human hair industry, i wanted to make sure everyone knows that this does NOT include us Groomers and Stylists.

​Despite doing a very similar job—just with a lot more wiggling! 😄 —dog grooming is still classified under the standard 23% VAT rate.

​Why this matters:

As small businesses, we face the exact same rising costs for electricity, specialised equipment, shampoo, and training. However, we still have to absorb or pass on that heavy 23% tax burden, while human salons get a financial breather.

​We love what we do, and we love pampering your pups. It is essential! We will always fight to keep our prices as fair and competitive as possible while maintaining the highest standards of safety and care for your fur babies.

​Hopefully we can make a change by spreading the word that we deserve this reduction also.

So I have a little bit of bad news...
After a very rough pregnancy, I have been put on bedrest until baby girl arrives! 😳
This decision hasn't been made lightly. I've pushed myself beyond my limits until now. Unfortunately I now physically can't work for more than a few minutes without getting a faint spell so it's time to listen to my body (and the very angry doctors/consultants who think small business owners can simply "just stop working"🤦🏻‍♀️) and baby girl first.

This means Jenna is being thrown slightly into the deep end, as I hoped to have at least another month to ease her into taking over for the summer( I hope to be back after the summer so should only miss me for 2-4 grooms if you think about it).
I ask you give lots of kindness, patience and encouragement as she steps up from apprentice to solo stylist! ❤️
I'm sure many of you remember 10+ years ago I started with the same level of experience when we first met.. you all were so kind and supportive since day one so I have faith you will look after Jenna in my absence!!💕

If you don't know Jenna by now (I swear I don't mean to keep her hidden behind the curtain by the bath 🤣) she has been working and training at Muddy Puppy for nearly 2 years. She is L5 qualified and currently finishing her L6 Animal grooming course, which she is passing with flying colours. ✨

Most of your dogs are already familiar with Jenna by now, any dogs with special requirements I have felt need a more seasoned groomer I have already been in touch with and referred elsewhere but if you have any concerns feel free to pop me a message.

Hello everyone 👋
I’m looking forward to returning to work tomorrow after the long Christmas break.

I will be at my laptop doing admin work for the day today so please message today if you’re looking for an appointment, I may be busy during the week as I play catch up.

We will be working very differently from February while Jenna begins to take over for my maternity leave. I ask for extra patience while we navigate this change. Appointment times may take longer and book up quicker as we have very limited slots.

I hope to be working until March but unfortunately I spent most of my time off in hospital and am having a very tough time at the moment with the hyperemisis and other related complications.
I will hopefully know more next week but I feel I need to give everyone a heads up I may be told I cannot work soon and I need to put myself and baby first.
