Mission:
To ensure abandoned dogs and cats are cared for at our centre until a new home is found for them. We also visit nursing homes, schools and rehabilitation centres with our animals to promote animal welfare care; giving advice on neutering, microchipping and the importance of looking after animals.

📢 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝘃𝗲𝘁𝘀 & 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 🛏️🐾

Each week we receive around 5 calls from kind people offering to donate duvets and pillows. While we truly appreciate the thought and generosity, 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, the dogs tend to chew them up, they're difficult to wash, and we simply don’t have the storage space for them.

We’d love to find an 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 that can repurpose or make good use of old duvets and pillows. If you know of any local groups, shelters, recycling centres, or creative reuse projects that might take them, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲.

Let’s keep these items out of landfill and help them find a second life 💚

🛶 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹’𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 🛶

We are absolutely blown away by the amazing Daniel Menshakov, who is taking on the incredible challenge of 𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗻, a 300km journey from Cavan to Limerick - all to raise funds for Leitrim Animal Welfare and North West STOP-Suicide Prevention, two charities close to his heart.

Daniel and Sharon recently adopted Winton from us, and he’s settled in beautifully, living his best life, loved and cherished. 💚
Seeing one of our rescue dogs go to such a wonderful home is joy enough... but now Daniel is going one step further to give back, helping us continue our work caring for lost, abandoned and surrendered animals.

Alongside this, Daniel is supporting North West STOP, who provide free, life-saving mental health support in our community. Daniel knows first-hand how important it is to have support available - and we’re honoured to be part of a fundraiser with such heart and meaning.

Meet Tim - a beautiful 3-year-old Collie with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. 💖
Tim is a lovely dog who is sure to make someone very happy. He absolutely loves to play ball 🎾 and is always up for a game!

Tim has a bit of a habit of holding onto his toys 🧸, so he would be best suited to an adult-only home or one with teenagers who can understand his need for space during playtime.

An ideal adventure buddy 🏕️, Tim enjoys his walks 🚶‍♂️ and would thrive with an active owner who is around for most of the day 🕒. Since arriving at our centre, Tim has been adjusting to a whole new way of life, up until now, he spent his days living on a chain ⛓️, so home life is still new to him. Despite this, he’s quickly learning and showing just how eager he is to be part of a loving family 🏡.

Tim walks beautifully on the lead 🐕, loves meeting other dogs 🐕‍🦺, and has also been fine around cats 🐱. He’s ready to start the next chapter of his life with someone who can offer him patience, companionship, and lots of love 💕.

✅ 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱: Knowing your dog is traceable gives you security if they ever wander too far.

🔬 𝗜𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲?
Yes! Microchipping is a quick and safe procedure. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin. Reactions are extremely rare, and there is no scientific evidence linking microchips to cancer in dogs.

📡 𝗜𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿?
No, a microchip isn't GPS-enabled. It’s a passive chip that can be scanned by a vet, shelter, or dog warden to access your registered contact details.

🚨 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶-𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘀! 🐾
We’re currently helping a colony of semi-feral tortoiseshell and diluted tortoiseshell cats in Carrick-On-Shannon, and they’re scheduled to be neutered/spayed tomorrow.

These gorgeous kitties are in a very built-up area that isn’t safe for them long-term, and they urgently need somewhere quiet to recover after their surgery.

Our cattery is under renovation and will be ready in the coming weeks - but we need your help now to give them a safe, forever farm-style home!

✨ These cats are ideal farm or stable companions - independent, low-maintenance, and excellent natural pest control!

Ideally, we’d love to see them rehomed in pairs, as they’re used to being together.
📍 They will need to be kept in a secure, quiet shed or outbuilding for 2 weeks post-neutering, to help them settle into their new surroundings.

Each cat will:
✅ Be neutered/spayed
✅ Receive parasite treatment
✅ Be FIV/FeLV negative
✅ Have an ear tip to indicate they’re fixed

Today we celebrate the dogs who didn’t just get rescued - they rescued us right back. 🐶✨

Whether they came from a shelter, off the streets, or were saved from tough circumstances, rescue dogs have a special way of teaching us about unconditional love, patience, and second chances.

To all the people who open their hearts and homes to these amazing pups - you’re heroes.
And to the dogs still waiting for their forever homes: we see you, we love you, and we’re rooting for you. 🏡💕

Cooper arrived in our care on the 25th of April as a stray in Dromahair. Despite being microchipped, poor Cooper’s chip led only to his breeder, sadly, no owner came forward to claim him. 💔
But now, Cooper has a second chance to find the loving forever home he truly deserves! 🏡❤️

🐕 When Cooper first arrived, he was a little shy and aloof, but with patience and care, his fun, friendly personality has started to shine. ✨
He’s great at making doggy friends 🐶🐾

🦴 Cooper is looking for an active family who will take him on lots of amazing walks and adventures 🌳🚶‍♂️ he’s the perfect companion for anyone who loves the outdoors!

🐾 𝗔 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 🐾

From skin and bones to sofa snuggles 🖤

On the 5th of March, Luna the Lurcher arrived into our care in a heartbreaking condition - emaciated, covered in fleas, with barely any fur, and terrified of the world. Alongside her sisters, Athena and Iris, it was clear she had suffered unimaginable neglect for far too long.

Over the next 67 days, Luna slowly began to heal. She learned that gentle hands could be trusted, that not all people meant harm, and that love, patience, and kindness could mend even the deepest wounds.

During her time with us, Luna was spayed to ensure no puppies or grandpuppies would ever face the same fate, and microchipped to guarantee her safety and traceability in the future. While we gave her as much care as possible, every rescuer knows: no matter how nice we make a kennel, no matter how many walks or games we play, there is nothing like a home.

That is always the goal - to save one life, so we can move on to save the next.

On the 11th of May, Luna's fairy tale ending came true. Joe and Deirdre, along with their wonderful rescue dog Reilly, welcomed her into their family. Though nervous at first, Luna soon found comfort by Reilly’s side. Their bond was instant, and her sweet personality is blossoming.

Already, Luna is settling in beautifully. She’s been to the beach for the very first time and is now happily snuggled up with Reilly on the couch - safe, loved, and finally home. ❤️

Sadly, despite their story reaching so many, Athena and Iris did not receive a single application. But thanks to the help of amazing UK rescues, they are now preparing to travel in search of their own happy endings. Though we wish their homes could have been here in Ireland, we’re so grateful they’re getting this chance.

Her owner is desperately trying to find her.

🐾 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗼 - 𝗔 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 🐾

Cleo is a beautiful 5-month-old Collie cross who has already experienced more upheaval than any young pup should. She’s been through 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 and was surrendered today after being rescued from a difficult situation. Despite her rocky start, Cleo is full of potential and love to give.

She’s a typical pup - bright, playful, and yes, occasionally destructive - but with the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, she will grow into a truly amazing companion. Cleo needs a home where someone is around for most of the day to help her settle, learn, and thrive. She deserves a family committed to the long haul - 12+ years of love, care, and companionship.

Cleo is not just looking for a home. She's looking for her forever - someone to believe in her, train her, and never let her go.
