80 years ago today, an extraordinary lady was born. A lady who would go on to change the lives of thousands of animals and people through her kindness, determination, and unwavering compassion. ❤️

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Christine will tell you the same thing. She was completely unique. She never followed the crowd, never accepted “that’s just the way things are,” and never stopped fighting for animals that others had given up on. She had a way of making people believe that change was possible, even when the odds seemed impossible.

No one will ever compare to Christine. Her passion was unmatched, her dedication endless, and her love for animals knew no bounds. The impact she made on this county, and far beyond it, can never truly be measured.

Christine founded Leitrim Animal Welfare in 1997 with a simple but powerful vision: that every animal deserves kindness, compassion, and a chance at a better life. Through her dedication, determination, and endless love for animals, she built an organisation that has gone on to help thousands of animals across Leitrim and beyond. ❤️

We often find ourselves wondering what Christine would think of the animals currently in our care, and we take comfort in believing that she is watching over them all, just as she always did. 🌈✨

Happy 80th Heavenly Birthday, Christine. Thank you for changing so many lives, both human and animal. You are deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. ❤️🐾

**UPDATE: FOUND**
Thanks to everyone who seen the post and contacted the owners with sightings. She was found at 1.30am last night and is now at home resting up. She was found 20km away from where she originally was.

This dog named Lily is missing from the Drumreilly area since wednesday night.
She is a Golden Red Labrador with a red collar.
She was being looked after by somebody else whilst her owners were on holiday.
As she was not in her home environment, she may be very disoriented with her surroundings.

💔 𝗧𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝟬 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 💔

We are genuinely shocked that Tully hasn’t received a single application. 😢

Sadly, like many lurchers, Tully seems to be overlooked simply because of his breed. Lurchers are often some of the hardest dogs to rehome, despite being some of the most loving, gentle and loyal companions you could ever wish to meet. ❤️

If we could describe Tully in one word, it would be perfect. 🐾

This handsome boy has come such a long way from the terrified stray who spent weeks avoiding capture. Today, he is a happy, playful dog who adores people, loves other animals, and spends his days racing around with blankets in his mouth like a giant puppy. 😂💕

Tully has completely broken every stereotype people may have about lurchers. He is friendly, affectionate, fun loving and would make an incredible addition to so many homes.

Every day he watches other dogs leave for their forever homes while he waits patiently for someone to notice him. 💔

Meet Otto, a handsome 5 month old, male, Golden Labrador puppy who is now searching for his forever home! 🏡🐶

Otto was surrendered into our care last week. He was originally given as a gift and, while he was very much loved, it became clear that Otto’s energy levels did not match those of his owner’s lifestyle. Rather than allowing the situation to continue, the responsible decision was made to surrender him while he is still young, giving him the best possible chance of finding the perfect home. ❤️

We often like to highlight the different ways dogs come through our gates, and Otto’s story serves as an important reminder that pets should never be given as gifts. 🎁❌
A dog is not just a present for a special occasion, it is a commitment that can last 10 - 15 years or more. 🐕❤️
The decision to bring a dog into your life should always be made by the person who will be caring for them every day.

As for Otto, he is everything you would expect from a young Labrador puppy! 😄🐾
He is full of life, full of energy, and always ready for his next adventure. 🌳🎾
He is an incredibly sweet natured boy who loves people and wants to be involved in absolutely everything! 🥰

Like any young puppy, Otto still has plenty to learn. 📚🐶 He can be boisterous and is currently working on his manners, he hasn’t quite learned that jumping up to greet people isn’t always appreciated! 😂🐾
He will need a home that is committed to continuing his training and helping him develop into the fantastic adult dog we know he can become.

Otto would suit an active home that understands the needs of a young Labrador and is prepared to provide him with exercise, enrichment, consistency, and guidance. 🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️🎾🐕

⚠️ Please only apply if you are genuinely ready to commit to Otto for life. Puppies are adorable, but they require time, patience, training, and dedication as they grow. ❤️

After the weekend, these six gorgeous kittens will be ready to begin their search for forever homes! 💕

These little ones come from two very different backgrounds. One litter of three kittens was rescued through our Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) programme, while the second litter is part of a family of nine cats and kittens that were surrendered into our care.

All six kittens have blossomed during their time with us and are now looking forward to finding families of their own. 🐱✨

As always, we encourage people to consider adopting kittens in pairs. Kittens often thrive when they have a feline friend to grow up with, helping to keep each other company, burn off energy through play, and build confidence as they settle into their new homes. For that reason, we would especially love to see these little ones heading off to their forever homes in twos. 💗
