We think quite a few of you will remember this beautiful girlโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿพ

A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Daisy, the little collie whose story touched so many people.

According to the information provided to us, Daisy had spent 8 years of her life living outdoors on a chain. When we collected her, that chain weighed an unbelievable 3kg and was so heavy duty that it had to be cut off with wire cutters.

She had been left behind when her owners moved back to their home country and thankfully a concerned landlord made the phone call that changed Daisyโ€™s life. โค๏ธ

When Daisy first arrived with us, she was absolutely terrified. She didnโ€™t trust people, she didnโ€™t understand what was happening, and after everything she had experienced, we knew she was going to need more than just food, warmth and a comfortable bed.

She needed rehabilitation, patience and specialist support.

On the 21st of August, Daisy went to Lauraโ€™s Canine Academy, (L.C.A)rehabilitation facility, where she could receive the individual support she needed.

And in just over a week, the work Laura has done with Daisy has been nothing short of incredible. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ‘

Daisy has some neurological/behavioural difficulties which may stem from the trauma and prolonged restriction she experienced during her previous life. She is also extremely nervous around adults, particularly men.

Interestingly, Daisy appears much more comfortable around calm children and seems to find it easier to place her trust in them. โค๏ธ

Laura describes Daisy as hesitant and cautious, but underneath that uncertainty is a complete sweetheart just waiting to bloom, just like her namesake. ๐ŸŒผ

With patience, understanding and specialised care, she is slowly learning how to trust, explore and simply be a dog.

And one thing Daisy absolutely LOVES?
Her freedom. ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ
Walks. Exploring. Sniffing. Moving wherever she chooses.
No heavy chain. No restriction. No more life at the end of a tether. ๐Ÿพ

For a dog who spent so many years unable to make those choices for herself, watching her experience that freedom is incredibly special.

Daisy isnโ€™t looking for just any home.

She needs a very special, patient and understanding home where nobody expects her to become a completely different dog overnight.

Eight years of fear and uncertainty cannot be undone in eight days.

Her new family will need to allow her to progress at her own pace, continue the work that has already begun and understand that there may be little bumps along the road.

She needs someone who will celebrate the tiny victories, approaching for affection, relaxing in the same room, enjoying a walk, playing, or simply choosing to trust. โค๏ธ

Ideally, we would love to find Daisy a quiet, calm home with a secure garden, with someone who has experience with nervous or traumatised dogs, or who is willing to listen, learn and work with the guidance provided.

Because somewhere out there is the person who wonโ€™t look at Daisy and see a โ€œdamaged dog.โ€

Theyโ€™ll see a little collie who survived eight years on a chain and finally deserves to discover what being someoneโ€™s beloved family member feels like. ๐ŸŒผ

From a 3kg chain to running, walking and exploring freelyโ€ฆ

Daisyโ€™s life has already changed forever. Now we need someone to help us write the next chapter. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

This afternoon, we received a phone call from a lovely member of the public who had gone out of their way to catch and save this poor little bunny after it was reportedly left to fend for itself, being chased by dogs. This bunny has been named Allen after Lough Allen.

Thankfully, they took the time and patience to get the bunny to safety before something awful happened. โค๏ธ

The bunny has also been previously posted in local groups in the hope that an owner can be found. Sadly, no one has come forward. If you recognise this rabbit, know who may own it, or have any information that could help us reunite it with its family, please contact us.

โš ๏ธ We want to make it very clear that we do NOT know if this bunny was deliberately abandoned. It may have escaped from its home, and we sincerely hope that is the case.

However, sadly, we know that domestic rabbits and other small pets are sometimes released outdoors when people no longer want them, under the mistaken belief that they can simply โ€œlive in the wild.โ€
They cannot. โŒ
๐Ÿฐ A domestic rabbit is very different from a wild rabbit. Releasing one into the countryside is not โ€œsetting it freeโ€ it can be a death sentence.

Domestic rabbits can face:
๐Ÿ• Dogs and other predators โ€“ as this little bunny has already experienced today.
๐ŸฆŠ Foxes and other wildlife โ€“ many pet rabbits do not have the same instincts, speed or ability to protect themselves as their wild counterparts.
๐Ÿš— Road traffic โ€“ a frightened rabbit can easily end up on a road while desperately trying to find somewhere safe.
๐ŸŒง๏ธ Exposure to the weather โ€“ pet rabbits may have spent their lives in sheltered environments and can struggle when suddenly exposed to prolonged rain, cold and harsh conditions.
๐Ÿฅ• Difficulty finding appropriate food and water - particularly if they have always depended on humans to provide for them.
๐Ÿฆ  Disease and parasites - without an owner noticing that something is wrong or providing veterinary care, illness can quickly become fatal.
๐Ÿ  No established territory or safe burrow - a rabbit suddenly placed somewhere unfamiliar has no idea where it can safely hide, sleep or escape from danger.
๐Ÿ˜ข Fear and stress - imagine spending your entire life being fed, sheltered and cared for by people and suddenly finding yourself completely alone in an unfamiliar environment.

Please, educate yourself before bringing ANY animal into your home. โค๏ธ

Rabbits can live for 8-12 years or more and require proper housing, companionship, enrichment, appropriate nutrition and veterinary care. They are not disposable pets and they are certainly not animals that can simply be released when circumstances change.

If you can no longer care for a pet, please reach out for help rather than releasing them. Even if a rescue cannot immediately take the animal, asking for advice gives that animal a much better chance than leaving them to fend for themselves.

For now, weโ€™re very grateful to the kind people who stopped, took the time to catch this little one and got them out of danger. Because they cared enough to stop, that action has saved this bunnyโ€™s life. โค๏ธ๐Ÿฐ

Ollie originally arrived into our care as a stray from Bornacoola, and sadly, no owner ever came forward to reclaim him. ๐Ÿ’”

He has now completed all of his veterinary work and is officially ready to find his forever home! โค๏ธ
Ollie is now neutered, fully vaccinated and completely up to date with his parasite treatment, meaning this handsome boy is ready to pack his bags and head home right now! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿพ

Ollie is an absolute pleasure in his kennel. He is very clean, doesn't chew or destroy anything, and certainly knows how to enjoy the quieter side of life! ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ He loves to relax and chill out, but don't be fooled - Ollie equally loves getting out for his exercise and walks. ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐ŸŒณ

His perfect home would be with someone who enjoys getting outdoors, going for walks and being active, but who is just as happy to come home afterwards, put their feet up and relax with Ollie beside them. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿถ Ollie seems to be perfectly fine around other dogs.
๐Ÿฑ Cats, however, aren't really his cup of tea, so we feel a cat free home would suit him best.

At only 2 years old, Ollie has his whole life ahead of him. He's finished all his vet work, he's ready to go and now the only thing missing is someone to choose him. ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ

Tommy's story with us actually began 8 years ago, when he was just a little puppy. โค๏ธ
Tommy was rehomed from our centre and went on to spend the next eight years in a much loved home with his owner.

Sadly, Tommy's much loved owner has now passed away, and after all these years, Tommy has found himself back in our care once again. ๐Ÿ’”

Tommy is an absolute super dog! ๐Ÿฅฐ He is incredibly sweet natured, friendly and affectionate and has been a pleasure to have back with us. He seems perfectly happy around other dogs, although he isn't the biggest fan of cats, so a cat free home would be best for him. ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ

๐Ÿš— Tommy also isn't the biggest fan of travelling in the car, so his new family will need to be understanding of this.

Please don't let Tommy's age put you off! โค๏ธ
At 8 years old, Tommy still has so much life left in him. He's ready for walks, companionship, adventures and, most importantly, another home where he can feel loved and secure.

Eight years ago, we promised Tommy a lifeline when he first came through our gates as a puppy. Now that life has sadly brought him back to us, we'll make that promise to him all over again. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿพ
