🐈LETS TALK CAT VACCINATIONS🐈

Vaccinations are an essential part of preventative health care for your cat. Vaccinating cats is crucial as it helps to protect them against diseases that can prove life-threatening or make them very unwell. 💉

Vaccination works by helping to build immunity by exposing the body to a small, altered dose of the disease. Antibodies are created and remembered, ready to act fast if your pet comes across the disease later. 🦠

Kittens often start their primary course around eight to nine weeks old. Adult cats need regular booster injections each year to maintain protection because immunity fades over time. Indoor cats aren’t risk-free. 🐈‍⬛

🐾❤️ HAPPY REUNION ❤️🐾

After being missing for 11 long days, this handsome boy Herceg was safely reunited with his owners — and today he visited us here at the clinic for his microchip, worm and flea treatment, and a full health check. We’re delighted to say he received a full clean bill of health! 🩺🐶

Stories like this remind us just how important microchipping is in helping lost pets find their way back home safely. A huge well done to his family for never giving up, and to everyone who helped along the way. 🙌

⚠️ Remember: Wet then Vet 🏥👇

Quickly wet the dog with cool water around 15 degrees (not freezing cold). If not available, any water that is cooler than the dog’s skin feels.

Cool water, around 15°C, is ideal, but any water will help. If you only have soft drinks, ensure they don't contain xylitol, and avoid pouring them on the dog's head. Wetting the dog will promote cooling through evaporation. Do this before taking them to the vet but don't spend too much time on it.

Afterward, contact the vet and inform them about the situation and how long it will take you to arrive. This allows the vet's team to prepare for your dog's arrival and increases their chances of receiving prompt treatment.

Avoid using wet towels on the dog as they can trap heat. However, specialised cooling vests that function through evaporation are suitable.
