I had a lady reaching out to me recently and when stating our prices, she responded we were too expensive. In Home Boarding business, we always have people not understanding why we charge those fees for Home Boarding compared to kennels when we take on their fur babies while they go on holidays .. this is why:
-We don't have lie on, we are up at 5.30am every morning to attend to them and rarely in bed before 11pm to make sure they do their "needs". If your baby sleep on at home, we are a new environment, they won't while with us most times. No time for hangovers!
- As your babies are in our house, cleaning their "needs", is a required task multiple times per days and in some cases, furniture need to be cleaned too. The mop and hoover are never put away!
Not like kennels.
Your doggies are not at home, they will not behave like at home in most cases.
- toys are destroyed and need to be replaced
- Heat and water are used to keep them warm and clean and petrol/diesel when offering pick up and drop off at the times that suit you. ( most of the time being out of business hours)
- their time outside needs to be supervised to ensure they are ok and, if other dogs present, no fights happen, so no time for shopping! We make sure they are out most of the day playing/exercising.
-we are restrained on the number of dogs we can take as they are in our home and not kennels. Your doggies get personal attention all day and are part of our family day life.
- We are required as a business, unless undeclared ones, to have a yearly licence, to have public liability insurance and to pay tax..
So when thinking we are too expensive, maybe look into what is involved to allow your holidays, unless you go for someone who is none of all that and then if anything happens it will be your expenses.
