I travelled over to Lisbon with to compete in the Open Poodle class, at the .groom competition. 🇵🇹 where I placed 3rd with the gorgeous Ali, who I borrowed from . I can't thank you enough for all your help and advice, you're amazing 💕

I had to leave for my flight before the awards ceremony, so I have no photos up at the podium, unfortunately.

I was waaay out of my comfort zone with this style and his size! He is huge! And, only scissors are allowed to be used in this class.

I still have a lot to learn in this style. I could immediately see so many areas that needed tweaking once he was off the table. I'm pleased with what I achieved in my first attempt.

We had 2 days of seminars before the competition, where we learned so much, a really informative long weekend. Thank you to , who organised this great event.

The pet festival was on at the same time so it was like a mini crufts expo with spectacular dogs competing in breed shows, miniture donkeys and all kinds of animals coming to visit. There was even a couple with their pet goat on a harness wandering around.

I'm already looking forward to next year's event!

My now old boy Rodney 🧡 Rodney was my last Foster dog from the 8 years ago. He is the guy who pesters you for a rub and barks at you if you don't obey 🤣 He was so weak when he arrived. We thought he was on his way out. He is the BEST dog ever, so funny and full of love. We guess he is 11 now 🧡

What a weekend! Where to even begin! Im beyond thrilled and still taking it all in! 💖

🥇🇮🇪Irish Dog Groomer of the Year 2024🇮🇪🥇

This weekend, Mary, Nuala, and I attended the Annual IPDGA Irish Dog Grooming Championships

On Saturday, I competed in Champion ABP Scissor class with Poppy the Bichon frise and won 1st place 🥇 I went on to win Best Overall Scissor Champion🏆

Mary competed in the Novice Scissor Class with Kylo the Bichon frise and won 1st place 🥇
Nuala, who is only grooming a few short months, competed in the Heinegar New to grooming class and went and won 4th place🎖

I also brought along Carrie, the Kerry Blue for Lakhi, to groom in a demo, and she was a fantastic model up on stage.

On Sunday, I competed in the Champion Clipped Class with Kobi the Medium Poodle and won 1st place 🥇
Mary competed in the Novice clipped class with the gorgeous Rex, a little mixed breed, and won 1st place 🥇
Mary went on to win Best Novice groomer 2024 🏆 and I went on to win Irish Dog Groomer of the Year 2024!!!! 🏆🥇 🇮🇪 🐩🐕✂️

A huge 💜 THANKYOU to the for another fantastic event. All your hard work is greatly appreciated. Madra Mania is a staple event in so many groomers calanders, and I, for one, would be a very different groomer/trainer if it weren't for the ipdga's influence over the many years now! I am grateful for all that you do - all of the volunteers, with a special mention to Karina, as im sure there is an unreal amount of work that goes into pulling off such a huge event 👏💖🎖

A massive thank you to my Judges Lakhi, Isabella and Verity, for your kind words and critiques. Its so lovely to meet people you admire, and then they exceed your expectations. Lakhi oozes empathy and kindness, I saw him show so much kindness throughout the weekend. Isabella is so funny and so serious depending on the job at hand. She was kind but direct with her critiques, which I love! 💜 Verity is just so lovely, and her scissor work was superb, even on an anxious, vibrating toy poodle! And her little voices she used were brilliant 😆 Christina, Thank you for all your kind words and super well done on your debut judging role. You smashed it!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending the day training with Emma, Molly, and Steph from The Canine Centre. To say they are a talented bunch is an understatement. One of Emma's back leg styles really caught my eye, and I will be trying to recreate that this week! Spending time with other passionate groomers is inspiring. Thank you so much, Naomi, for having me and treating me so kindly. I can't wait to try out all the Yuup products.
