A perennial topic: is a whippet simply a whippet, and that’s that, or should the field be divided up according to a specific system? What is the most ideal solution? Well, something was already devised many, many years ago – perhaps not by chance.

In 1904, during the Whippet racing event, all the dogs participating had to be weighed before the race began.
It was interesting to note the size of these dogs, as they were originally small enough to be carried under their owner's coat in cold weather.
This practice of weighing the dogs ensured fairness and adherence to the rules of the race, highlighting the importance of maintaining standards in such competitive events.
