As of next week, June marks 8 whole years of trading as Browfection by Emily! Although itโs not quite the big decade milestone yet, I just wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am to every single person who has supported me over the years โ whether thatโs as a client or simply by following and supporting my work on social media. It truly means the world to me. ๐
Hereโs a little about how my journey as a Semi Permanent Make-Up Artist beganโฆ
I was always interested in art and beauty throughout secondary school, but I decided to study Business & Administration at York College as I thought it would open more career opportunities for me. Fast forward a few years, and the creative side of me decided to take a Semi Permanent Make-Up course in 2018. At the time, I imagined it would just be a hobby alongside my full-time job, something Iโd do on evenings and weekends.
Little did I know that just a few months later, Iโd have to leave my job as a PA to do this full time because the business grew so quickly. Trying to fit clients around work and two young children became impossible!
For the first couple of years, I ran my business from my mumโs conservatory because I had no space in my own home. In 2020, I built a cabin in my garden to work from, and then in 2023, when my husband and I decided to move house, I took on a lease at a salon in Acomb with my best friend Kelly at Signature Beauty. We worked together for 2 and a half amazing years doing all things beauty.
Then last year, once my husband and I completed and settled into our forever home (which needed a full renovation ๐), I created a beautiful new workspace in my garage โ a clean, calm, warm and inviting home salon that I absolutely love, and where I plan on staying.
Over the last 8 years, alongside raising my children, looking after 3 pets, getting married and completing two house renovations, Iโve continued to grow my business while working full time and giving everything I can to my clients.
Iโm incredibly critical of my own work and always strive to improve, which has led me to complete a number of additional courses and expand my ever-growing treatment list. In 2020, this included a Beauty Educators Diploma, meaning Iโm now qualified to teach aspiring students too.
My passion will always be Semi Permanent Make-Up. I love correcting facial symmetry and helping people feel more confident in themselves when they leave an appointment. I love seeing you all regularly, replying to messages personally, and genuinely taking an interest in your lives โ just as many of you do in mine. That personal 1:1 experience is something that will always be important to me.
As a little thank you for your continued loyalty and support, Iโve ordered 100 cookies to hand out to my clients throughout June to celebrate Browfection turning 8! ๐ช
And if youโre not booked in with me anytime soon, thank you from the bottom of my heart for always choosing me, supporting me and trusting me over the years. ๐
