I had heard about this today from a customer who’s dog has been affected by Years Dog Food.
Just spreading awareness to anyone who may be feeding this to their dogs to please stop, just incase 🙏🏼

🐾I know that we have customers feeding Years, this is for information only🐾
Until recently this was an online only, subscription model company, making a huge recall like this easy to effect.
Their products though have recently also been available at Pets at Home.
There is a very big debate going on in the pet industry at the moment with one side arguing that the actual ingredients that go into petfoods are less important than being able to prove that, no matter what is in the bag, box, pouch or tin, it can be shown to be a “complete” food, no matter the level of supplementation using synthetic nutritional additives required to tick the boxes.
I am firmly on the other side - that what goes in and is digested matters a lot to the overall health of your pet.
In this case the available evidence points to one ingredient change to the Years formula, the recent inclusion of buckwheat , causing the occurrence in some dogs of an eye condition which can be irreversible.
It will take much more in the way of investigation over the coming weeks by this company to be sure of the reason for the reports reaching them and in the meantime they have acted responsibly and quickly to withdraw the range from sale.
The pet trade has changed rapidly very recently with lots of investment by huge companies into new brands and brand takeovers. Investment is about increasing market share and profit, all necessary things in this world, but with shiny marketing and access to you and your pet’s info, it’s easy to be caught up in believing that it’s all being done for the good of your pet and not for a return.
From my perspective as a retailer, the closer that I am to the manufacturers of the products that I sell, the more faith I have in transparency, accountability and integrity of ingredients.
I left the big corporates behind fifteen years ago because of a row with one brand over the role of the retailer and what the retailer and owner need to be made aware of when formulas change - it cost me sales at the time but I have never looked back.
Years secured a multi million pound investment from two companies just a few months ago to roll out their move into retail from online.
I’m sure that, like many other companies recently becoming financially involved in the consumer desire for fresher and more natural feeding for their dogs, there will be enough money to weather this storm.
