Washing Chunky Blankets 🧺✨

Watch me wash my daughter's chunky blanket! This one measures 105 x 150 cm and has been through a lot—it's used every day and often gets dragged around on the floor.
A few important things to remember:
🧶 Machine washable – Use the hand wash or delicates programme. Chunky blankets absorb a lot of water, so for larger items, the delicate setting usually works best.
🌡️ Temperature: 30–40°C
🌀 Spinning: Generally, there are no limits. I reduced the spin cycle for this blanket because we're having a heatwave and it will dry quickly anyway.
🛏️ For smaller items: I recommend putting them in a wash bag or pillowcase.
🧴 Detergent: Use a mild detergent.
🚫 No fabric softener (including 2-in-1 detergents). I'm not exactly sure why, but fabric softener affects the fibres, making them heavier and less fluffy.
🤲 When removing from the washing machine: Be gentle and avoid pulling too hard to prevent damaging or ripping the blanket.
🌬️ Dry flat for best results.
🔥 Tumble drying: You can use a dryer on a gentle/cool setting only. Do not use heat, as the yarn is joined together using heat and high temperatures can damage it.
Do they stretch?
Mine have stretched slightly with use, but I use a compact knit, so it hasn't affected them much. I wouldn't say they've stretched after washing.
Does the fabric change after washing?
Yes, but only very slightly—just like most new items after their first wash. It's still soft, thick and beautiful.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for all of your recent orders and the amazing feedback I've received — it truly means so much to me!
The past few weeks have completely exceeded my expectations, especially with so many repeat customers and recommendations coming in. I'm incredibly grateful for every order, review and photos.
I currently have an order waiting list of around 3 weeks. As I work full-time and make each blanket in my spare time, I need to carefully manage the number of orders I take on so I can give every hand-knitted item the attention it deserves.
Most of my items are made to specific dimensions or custom designs, so I spend time checking measurements and details to make sure you're completely happy with the finished product. 😊

This blanket started with a photo of a wallpaper for inspiration, then a yarn colour hunt, a few of my daughter's drawings, and a whole lot of creativity... and ended up as this absolute showstopper! 🌈✨
I'm usually very much a sage-and-oatmeal kind of girl 😃, but I am completely in love with how this turned out.
Colourful, cheerful, bright, and unbelievably soft — the perfect mat for Mabel and kittens, Monty, Maude and Murray. 🐱💕
