With a background in rescue I am experienced with difficult dogs and use rei

ki and t-tap techniques with dogs to build confidence and trust. Terms and conditions: I will ask you to sign a card on first appointment which has more detail but basically 1) You undertake your dog is vaccinated (if not you will tell me and we will discuss), 2) If I have to I can use a muzzle (this is extremely rare it is a very calm atmosphere and I have a number of techniques I use with dogs to relax them) 3) if your dog is matted I will not dematt the dog as this is not in its interest or welfare. I have the right to shave out any knots even if this means the finished groom is short.

It has been a real privilege to do some first puppy grooms recently. Elsie had lots of treats and plenty of time and was really good. As well as having a puppy groom mum has been working hard at home to desentiser her by giving her showers and drying with the hair dryer. This means grooming is a more pleasant experience and Elsie will retain this confidence throughout her grooming life. I have a few clients who either have had an unpleasant experience at (other) groomers or maybe have had a period without regular grooms (rescues). This makes grooming a harder more stressful experience for them, although I will always work hard to slowly change their minds and help them become confident and comfortable. If you are getting a puppy please take them as soon as vaccinated for a saloon introduction and work at home with grooming. It really is worth the effort!

Bud and I did the Flat Walk in a new best time of 2 hours and 35 minutes. He thought the best bit was chomping treats from his goodie bag on the bus. All tips people gave me for grooms in April and May went towards my fundraising. We ended up with £180 and whilst others will have walked further (middle aged women with autoimmune issues here!) and raised more everyone working together adds up. Link to my fund raising page. We walk in memory of my lovely mum. Without her I would never have been able to pursue my dream and retrain as a dog groomer https://mountbatteniow.enthuse.com/pf/katy-bell-fed58

Leia was born in Brazil and her family moved her back here when they came back to the UK. She is mixed breed, but her coat is very much like a long haired chihuahua so needs trimming. She is a little nervous and at first dad stayed for appointments. I give her a little extra time so the groom is relaxed and allows time for me to use reiki techniques to keep her calm. She is always happy when her dad comes to pick her up though!

Dougie came for his annual spring freshener. Trim, deshed and pesky ear knots removed. He is such a good boy and always runs straight in for his groom.

Hugo came for his first adult groom today and it is fair to say after an hour (used to puppy groom) he felt it was time to go home! However he was great and I really enjoyed giving him the longer leg style.

One of the sad thing about doing senior dogs is that you lose your clients. RIP to Siddy (below) and Molly-Mae. Both loved very much by their respective owners and very much missed by all that knew them.

Sidney came today. He fell on his paws 🐾 when he went to stay with his mum as an emergency placement on a weekend.. several years ago. I have known him a while, but this was his first groom either me. Due to a difficult start in life Sid is worried about work around his legs and paws. We have more trust to build in order to improve the groom/get quicker, but this was a fantastic start. Well done Sid.

Alfie came in today and had a slightly different cut. He needed something easier for day today grooming and he has recently lost some of his eyesight and now wears protective goggles when he is out and about. As a result Mum wanted his face slightly different so he didn’t get hair caught in his googles (Alfie is a bit of a diva and was making it know this was not on). Mum bought an inspiration photo which was great and blue taked to the table while we worked. Even better if was an old photo of Alfie’s so no issues with a different coat type. Inspiration photos or a change request always welcome.
