Have you ever thought of a career in leatherwork or saddlery? We have just the thing.

Our Leatherwork Taster Days are running throughout the year in our members’ workshops across the country, giving you a hands-on introduction to the craft. You’ll learn the basics of stitching and working with leather and go home with a couple of items you’ve made yourself.

The first dates in June are now live:

I had a wonderful time yesterday at Saddlers Hall in London for the Society of Master Saddlers National Saddlery Competition and luncheon.

I was asked by Mark Romain at the Saddlery Training Centre to display some of my work, and showcase leather carving in the hope of inspiring the next generation of saddlers and leather workers.

I met so many amazing people and had such a lovely time, that I can’t wait to do it all again next year!

During the course of the day you will learn all the basic leather carving techniques, as well as designing and tracing patterns.

You’ll become accustomed to all the tools and how they can be used to create different effects, as well as basic maintenance.

We’ll talk about leather selection, and different suppliers where you can purchase leather, tools, and fittings.

I’ll also demonstrate different dyeing and staining techniques, and how you can enhance your designs using pro-resist and different pastes.

Most importantly you will have lots of fun learning new skills, and get to take away everything you’ve created on the day.

⚔️ Suitable for ages 13+ (under 16’s require adult supervision)

⭐️New Beginners Leather Carving Day dates ⭐️

⭐️ Sunday 26th October 2025
⭐️ Sunday 7th December 2025
⭐️Saturday 3rd January 2026

⭐️ Each day is 10am-3pm

During the course you’ll learn all the basic leather carving techniques including stencilling, carving,and bevelling, as well as a general staining principles.

There’s a range of different projects and templates to choose from that will suit everyone, including bookmarks, key rings, coasters, hair pins, plaques, and much more!

Suitable for ages 13+ (under 16’s require adult supervision).

All materials and use of tools are included in the fee of £90pp.

Each course has limited availability so you’ll have to act quickly to secure your spot!
