What an incredible three days at Farm Fest 2026! ๐ŸŒพโœจ

This year we were there in connection with the UK National Livestock Biobank โ€“ a ground-breaking collaboration between Harper Adams University and Gemini Genetics. Together, we're helping build something truly special: supporting the long-term preservation of valuable genetics for the future of UK livestock. ๐Ÿงฌ

Our team met so many passionate people, answered countless questions, and spread the word about why biobanking and genetic preservation matters. The conversations, the connections, the shared vision โ€“ it all made this event unforgettable.

The UK is home to 14+ native horse and pony breeds and many are now considered rare, with several listed as critically endangered by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

At Gemini Genetics, weโ€™re proud to support conservation efforts through skin sample preservation. Preserving living cells can help safeguard valuable bloodlines and genetic diversity something that may prove vital for breed survival in the years ahead.
These breeds are part of our history and heritage, and theyโ€™re uniquely adapted to the UKโ€™s landscapes and regional environments. Those traits could become even more important as we face changing climates, more extreme weather, and shifting resources for domestic animals.

Meet Clone Kitty, Belle ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ Testimony Tuesday

Although Belle didnโ€™t start her journey with us at Gemini Genetics, she has always felt like part of our wider story. Over the years weโ€™ve built a genuinely lovely relationship with Belleโ€™s owner, and weโ€™re always honoured to help share Belleโ€™s journey whenever we can.

Working alongside ViaGen Pets, Belle is a wonderful example of what can be possible when genetic preservation is in place for future cloning. But more than anything, Bellโ€™s story is about love the kind of bond that doesnโ€™t disappear, even after loss.
Belle is dearly loved, and her life is a reminder of why this work matters to so many families: it isnโ€™t just about science, itโ€™s about the deep connection people share with their pets, and the comfort that comes from keeping future options open.

As we fire up the grill, here are a few light reminders to keep BBQ time fun (and dramaโ€‘free) for our dogs because i think most dog like gem will be supervising closelyโ€ฆ purely for quality control, obviously. ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿ‘€

-Keep a little โ€œno-go zoneโ€ around the BBQ (hot grills + curious noses = ouch) ๐Ÿ”ฅ
-Skip onions/garlic/spicy marinades for pups ๐Ÿšซ
-Watch out for skewers, bones & corn cobs (theyโ€™re sneaky hazards) ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
-Plenty of fresh water + shade while everyoneโ€™s outside โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง
