Gemini Genetics is proud to support conservation charity Nature's SAFE 🦏🧬🦔There have been lots of samples received in the first half of 2025 and we hope to see many more come in for cryopreservation! 💙

Our conservation partners have been busier than ever sending samples in to our biobank - we have sent out over 400 chill boxes to our partners in 2025 alone!

Every single sample collected contributes to our shared mission to Save Animals From Extinction. Storing these samples acts as an insurance policy to prevent extinction by preserving the genetic diversity essential for species survival.

Each partner maintains ownership of all samples they have stored in the biobank, and can choose to donate a portion of each sample to us to develop cutting edge cryopreservation and genetic rescue techniques.

We now have more than 80 conservation partners in our network - comprised of zoos, aquariums, wildlife parks, rescue centres, and higher education collections - and it's only growing! Megan Groves is a laboratory technician for Gemini Genetics and she studies Biomedical Genetics at Newcastle University. Her work includes sample processing, storing and data handling.

Megan is particularly interested in wildlife conservation and enjoys working alongside our sister charity Nature's SAFE ❄️🐅🦏

Lydia Keeping is a laboratory technician for Gemini Genetics. She graduated with a Bioveterinary Science degree from Harper Adams University in 2023. Her work consists largely of sample processing, data handling and social media marketing. ✨

Lydia also has a keen interest in the livestock sector and enjoys supporting our sister organisation UK National Livestock Biobank .🐮

Lots of clients ask us how the cloning process works once we have preserved skin tissue in our UK laboratory.

We ship preserved samples to ViaGen in the USA using a trusted courier and they complete the cloning process at their world class facilities. DNA is extracted from the skin tissue sample and inserted into an enucleated donor egg, before being implanted into a surrogate mother.
