Hump Day Reset: Why Rest is Vital for Wellness

If things have been a little quiet here, it’s because the whole Ozzerix team (including the boys!) have been on a vital "rest and reset" protocol!

Between me fighting off a nasty cold and the boys recovering from their big Bamburgh Castle adventure, we’ve been keeping things very low-key and local over the last few days.

The Lesson? Rest is just as important as nutrition. Rest is when the body builds, repairs, and recovers.

Whether it’s recovering from a viral bug or a massive beach sprint, giving the body time to repair is key to longevity and long-term joint health.

Dexter and Bentley are officially back to their bouncy selves, and I’m ready to get back to sharing more wellness tips and bowl boosters with you all!

What’s your go-to way to help your dog rest and reset after a big adventure?

My goal this week? To keep finding the best, most practical ways to help our crew stay in peak condition through better nutrition.

Whether it’s balancing the bowl or supporting those stiff joints, every small change matters. Let’s make it a great one!

What’s one health goal you have for your dog this spring? Let’s chat in the comments!

While the boys are dreaming of tomorrow's adventures, I’m getting their "Bowl Boosters" ready for the week ahead.

A bit of Movewellia for those hard-working joints, some fresh berries for an antioxidant kick, and our favorite beef broth for extra hydration.

Taking 10 minutes tonight means a healthier, happier week for them. It’s the little things that add up to a long, active life!

Are you a "prep ahead" person or a "make it as you go" feeder?

Why Movewellia is a staple in our Bowl Boosters

If you saw my post yesterday about joint health, you’ll know I’m obsessed with keeping the pack moving comfortably!

For my own boys, Dexter and Bentley, I specifically chose Movewellia. Here’s why it’s my go-to joint supplement:

High-Grade Ingredients: It’s packed with Glucosamine and Chondroitin, but also Boswellia—which is fantastic for supporting the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response.

The Labrador Result: Since starting it, I’ve seen a real difference in how they recover after a big session at the Academy Field. No stiffness, just happy tails!

Prevention is Key: You don't have to wait for your dog to be "old" to support their joints. Helping them now means more years of shoreline sprints later.

Does your dog have a "magic" supplement, or are you looking for recommendations? Drop a comment below!

Fresh Food Friday: Boosting the Bowl!

One of the most common things I see while out with the pack is how much a dog’s diet affects their energy and recovery.

I’m currently deep-diving into Canine Nutrition and Wellness to find simple ways we can help our dogs thrive. Two of my favorite "bowl hacks" right now:

Joint Support: Adding fresh, anti-inflammatory toppers (like blueberries or a splash of omega-rich oil) is a game-changer for active dogs and seniors.

Balancing the "Burn": Highly processed diets can make a dog's urine very acidic (those yellow patches on the grass!). Adding fresh, leafy greens or hydrating toppers can help balance their pH levels and keep them hydrated.

Consultant in Training Tip: You don't have to change their whole diet to see a difference. Just 10% fresh food can make a massive impact on their health!

Does your dog get "Fresh Friday" toppers? Tell me what you use below!

After a big run in the training fields, hydration and recovery are key—especially for Dexter as we manage his weight and stiffness.

Since he’s a beef-lover, I’ve been using this small beef bone broth from the pet shop. It’s a lifesaver! I add it to his bowl to:

Fill him up without adding extra calories from food.

Support his joints with natural collagen.

Hydrate him after all those field sprints.

Practical, beefy, and Dexter-approved.

The Beef-Only Weight Loss Journey

When your dog is a picky eater, weight management isn't as simple as add some green beans. Dexter wouldn't touch a vegetable if his life depended on it!

He’s currently at 32kg, and to protect his joints and that occasional sore neck, we are aiming for 29-30kg. But how do you cut calories for a dog who only wants beef?

My Ozzerix Plan for Dexter:

Volume Filling: Swapping some of his calorie-dense food for warm beef bone broth. It keeps him full and hydrated without the fat.

Anti-Inflammatory Gap: We’ve just run out of our H**p and Turmeric! While he stays on his Movewellia, I’m looking to get those healthy fats back in to support his stiffness while he leans down.

The Airy Treat: Using dried beef lung for training—all the beefy taste, almost no calories.

Managing a Beef-Lover's weight takes a bit more strategy, but those 2-3kg less will make his walks so much easier.

Different Dogs, Different Bowls: Post Recovery with the pack

After a massive adventure at Chopwell Woods with all their walking friends, my two boys, Dexter and Bentley have very different needs when it comes to "refuelling".

As a professional dog walker and cannine nutritionist, i taylor their recovery bowls to match their personalities and their bodies:

The standard power bowl for Bentley:
Bentley isn't fussy! He gets the gold standard recovery:
Nutriment Beef base for muscle repair.
Movewellia & Green Lipped Mussel for joint longevity
H**p Oil for those essential fatty acids .
The goal is to keep a high energy lab moving fluidly for years to come.

The "Gourmet" Recovery Bowl For Dexter :
Dexter is my "food critic" and can be a bit stiff in the neck after a long day. To make sure he gets his nutrients, i have to be a bit more creative:
The stew Effect: A splash of warm water Beef broth to soften the raw texture and make it smell irresistible.
The topper: Ostrich Liver treats crumbled on top for that extra crunch he loves.
The support: The same joint-saving Movewellia, but hidden in a dollop of greek yoguart.

The Result? Two happy settled labs who are already dreaming of their next adventure.

Teaching owners that one size doesn't fit all is what Ozzerix Nutrition is all about. Wheather your dog is a "Bentley" or a "Dexter", is the right recovery makes all the difference!

Fueling the athletes.

Tonight’s bowl for the boys: Half Beef topped with fresh Sardines in water.

The Nutritionist's Note: I love adding sardines on a Monday. They are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids which act as a natural anti-inflammatory—perfect for supporting joints and skin after a weekend of exploring. Simple additions = huge benefits. /the introverted nutritionist Dexter and Bentleys Story Whitburn Walkies
