Next to be reintroduced…

CHESTER 🐾

When Chester first started, he was very much a “what am I doing?!” kind of dog! At his meet and greet, I walked in, he jumped up at me, grabbed my paperwork, ran to the bottom of the garden and proceeded to tear it to shreds! 😂

I told his owner we’d put him on a trial and see how he got on…

Well, he’s been with me ever since and has genuinely grown into one of my best behaved dogs. I can pair him with pretty much any other dog, his recall is spot on, and he no longer tries to run away from me at the end of the walk when the car comes into sight!

I’m so happy to have this boy back 🖤🐾

I was just driving home and passed a couple out for a run dragging their poor dog up the hill on Portland.
when I say they were dragging it, the poor thing was trying to stop.. it was exhausted!
They were carrying a water bottle but no sight of a bowl for the dog.

There is absolutely no need for it. Your dog DOES NOT need to go out let alone dragged out running on boiling pavements at 2.30pm. It’s abuse.

With the warmer weather coming next week, some walk times may need to be shortened, adjusted or moved to cooler parts of the day ☀️🐾

Your dogs safety and wellbeing will always come first. Even if it doesn’t feel too hot to us, the ground temperature and heat can quickly become dangerous for dogs — especially for puppies, older dogs, flat faced breeds and dogs that love to charge around non stop!

During hotter days I may:
• Shorten walks
• Swap walks for shorter toilet breaks and enrichment visits
• Move walks earlier or later where possible
• Stick to shaded areas and slower paced walks
• Carry extra water and encourage regular breaks

I know some dogs would happily keep going no matter the temperature, but heatstroke in dogs can happen very quickly and I’d much rather be over cautious than risk their health.

The reality of being a dog walker trying to film a Dalmatian and an Italian Greyhound x Whippet with the zoomies… you’ve got to be quick getting the camera out! 😂

They definitely live life at full speed! 🐾

Ziggy - AKA Pig! 🐷

I’ve known Ziggy for years now as her mum used to be a dog walker too, so we’d regularly meet or bump into each other out on walks. When her mum went back to being an estate agent, Pig still wanted to keep joining the fun with her friends and her brothers (their posts will be coming soon 👀).

Ziggy is full of character and always likes to tell me just how much fun she’s having! She also greets me every week with her head poking through the cat flap, which never fails to make me laugh 😂

So, I'm off due to a torn calf muscle which I've be incredibly careful with due to the nature of my job.
But I can't forget to wish our wonderful girl, Nova a very happy 13th birthday for yesterday!

This week is going to be hot.
Therefore, I will be starting walks early. 7am will be my first walk, but I will cancel walks if I think it is too hot and offer house visits instead. Please let me know if you do not need house visits if I am to cancel.

Happy birthday to my one and only, my biggest pain in the bum, the one who thinks she's in charge of everyone and everything, the one who I said would settle down at around 3 years old yet I'm still waiting!
