A really fun Sunday at the Somerset show! Amy ,Coco, and Frankie took Molly , Rene and Scout to do some of the in hand classes as a thankyou for all the running they do each Saturday on pony morning. Extensive bathing and prep , borrowed jackets (thanks Janet) and lots of tack cleaning paid off with rosettes for all of them .Coco and Rene topping it off winning the championship in their ring .😊

🐴🐎🐴EXTRA PONY MORNING IN HALF TERM 🐴🐎🐴

There will be an extra Pony Morning on Wednesday 28th May running from 10am - 12.30.Usual format with a ridden lesson and plenty of learning and fun with ponies. Cost £40 for the morning .
Suitable for complete novices and regular riders .

Part time staff member mainly for mornings from 8am to catch up well mannered horses and ponies and some basic yard duties for a couple of hours.A couple of afternoon shifts are also available ,turning out ,skipping out and generally sorting the yard for the following day .

Thankyou to everyone who kept the yard working smoothly ,so I could go up to my Légèreté training last weekend with Laddy.And ,also, to Sylvia ,for her constant encouragement, all my friends on the clinic (and at home) who were so positive.After being out of work for a very long time , he’s seems to be back on track and thoroughly enjoyed himself .

First evening of the Winter Talks last night .These were the overflow group who were able to come on another night ! Many thanks to those who came and of course to Tamsin , who sorted lovely drinks and Janet for an excellent cake.🍰. Thanks also to Bob and Kate for encouraging me to try this new venture.There are a couple of spaces on a Tuesday , if anyone is interested .Seven evenings left with different topics each week , aimed at helping you understand how to school your own horse.

TOPICS FOR THE BURCOTT WINTER TALKS

Please see the separate post about these talks to book

WEEK 1 - Balance and Rhythm- What’s all the fuss about?

WEEK 2- Contact- the desired and correct effect on the horse.

WEEK 3 Suppleness - how do you develop it and what is realistically
possible

WEEK 4 Straightness - one sided-ness explained with corrective strategies
to help the horse and rider

WEEK 5 Developing the canter- common issues and remedies with
progressive exercises.

WEEK 6 Collection and Extension - Use the basics to develop and recognise
correct work

WEEK 7 Progressions in Lateral Work - what needs to be in place first to
train in a logical way for the horse.

WEEK 8 Auxiliary Aids( Gadgets!,) - Is there any place for them ? What could we do instead?

Anyone can develop their knowledge of correct training so why not come and see what it’s all about ?

Sorry to disappoint Pony Morning riders but as the Met office has issued a red warning we have decided to cancel tomorrow’s pony morning .Look forward to seeing you all next week.
