Yes I’m still here… and this is what has been happening since coming back from Wales a few weeks ago!
Maeve cut her foot on some rocks at the beach while we were on holiday, we got her to the vets and needed an operation to remove the loose bit of skin flapping around.. op went well and she needed bed rest, not the worst thing since the heat wave hit us the day we got back. She wasn’t healing very well due to being a greyhound (their blood is very different to other dogs), and she wasn’t given any additional clotting meds so she basically wasn’t healing much at all, cue the daily vet trips to get bandage changed and keep an eye on it until we started to see some granulation, 2 weeks after she was bandage free and we needed to keep it clean and moist enough (vet salve) so it healed properly.
The heat wave meant daily admin, all day to keep people updated on walks, pop ins, and what was happening the next day… lots of early mornings and pop ins during the day, and then cue heatstroke. I was unable to work for a few days which wasn’t awful timings as even the early walks I was offering it was too hot, and lots of people were home due to the heat. Then as everyone knows, it’s not really cooled down since then, so it’s been last minute checking temperatures to see how many dogs and walks I can do before it gets too warm, and my customers have been absolutely amazing and so flexible with this I’m so grateful. I don’t like being last minute and being out of our routines, but it’s been necessary.
Hector then needed a dental, which also went really well. Turns out he doesn’t react as well as Maeve to the aesthetic so it meant he was crying and being quite unsettled for a while, but he’s all fine now, back in tomorrow for post op check up!
We then welcomed our new kitten home, (yes you’ll be introduced very soon)… and introducing the dogs to him going very slowly and carefully so everyone feels happy and comfortable! It’s going better than we could’ve ever hoped🙏🏼
Alongside that going on, we’re trying to keep on top of general life, exercise, food, running evening dance classes, social life and running my business…
…so I’m here to say sorry I’ve not been posting much, we’re still here and still going! I’ve been enjoying my time with the dogs and our quiet time at the field while it’s hot, I’ve been wanting to keep an eye that no dogs are running around silly and getting too hot, rather than prioritising photos and videos at the moment, so I hope you understand🙏🏼
We celebrated Barkleys 6th birthday, and had lots of cuddles, lots of pool time and lots of friends to keep them going through these long hot days🐾
More updates and photos will be coming back soon, but at the moment, prioritising keeping the dogs safe is first on my list.
Hope you are all finding ways to stay cool🙏🏼🐕🦺🦮🐩🐕🐾
