After our Caturday post we decided to do a combined photo and tongue out post today of all our SM kitties over the last 3 days and tongues since last Wednesday.

It’s been our busiest May ever with a very full half-term. This week quietens down for a little bit allowing us to catch our breath for a short while ~ phew!

Cat Fact: Why does your cat’s tongue feels rough like sandpaper? It’s because the surface is covered with hundreds of tiny backward-facing spines, called papillae. These small, sharp spines are shaped like scoops and are hollow at the tips. These hollow cavities absorb saliva, which is later distributed on the hair coat when the cat grooms itself using the papillae like a hairbrush.

We have lots of lovely faces to share. [Quite a few of you follow us but don’t want your kitty featured a photo or two has been sent this morning/last night.]

Cat Fact: Cats are incredibly good at hearing different tones and identifying the location of sounds. This leads us to another cat fact. Cats know when we’re talking to them. Our cats might look like they don’t hear us when they’re sitting in the middle of the stairs and we tell them to get out of the way, but they’re only pretending they don’t!

What a busy weekend it’s been! The cats have been laid out on cool tile floors - or even curled up in blankets - with fresh cold water and a lovely breeze! It’s fair to say we however are wilting.

It’s Fabulous Feline Friday!

Cat Facts: Cats stay cool in the heat by seeking cool surfaces that draw the heat from their bodies;

by reducing movement and activity; by grooming themselves - when they lick themselves their saliva evaporates and cools them down (don’t all try that one at home 😹);

by drinking cool water and

stretching out - your cat has less fur on their belly and stretching out their legs helps your cat release heat from the pads on their paws.
