🪱It is almost weekend and we wanted to raise awareness of what to look out for when walking in Norfolk

When out and about in Norfolk do be aware that adders may also be about! They mainly hang out in areas of open heath and sand-dunes but they can also be found in woodlands. They are the only venomous snake in Norfolk and you can come across them anywhere in the county but particular areas they like to inhabit are Thetford Forest, Croydon Common, Waxham Sands and Winterton Dunes.

Adders are very shy and generally only bite when provoked. They hibernate in the winter so most bites occur in the summer and they mainly occur on the face and legs. 🪱

Signs of an adder bite include:
Rapid swelling around the bite site
Pain
Lethargy
Collapse
Vomiting
Panting
Lameness
Bruising
Bleeding

Please call us immediately, even if you are not sure if your pet has been bitten by a snake or cant see the reptile. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/identifying-birds/six-reptiles-found-in-the-uk

🌟It is and we wanted to raise the importance of tick prevention and treatment. Ticks are spider-like small parasites that suck blood from other animals. They have eight legs, with an egg-shaped body that will become larger and darker when filled with blood. Unlike fleas, they don't fly or jump. Instead, they climb or drop on your pet's coat when they brush past whatever they're sitting on.

Ticks are common in woodland and grassland and, although active throughout the year, you'll most likely see them between spring and autumn. Cats are less likely to get ticks than dogs, but it can still happen. https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/general/ticks 🌟 for two weeks

🌟What have your furry pets been up to this bank holiday weekend? 🌟
This is Tuppence staying busy!
Sue's Tuppence began her Flyball Journey in 2025 with a 12 week introductory course. After completing the course, they were invited to join the Yeager Flyball team. Her debut competition took place at Lincoln Showground where she earned 3rd place in her category. Since then she has participated in several more competitions collecting additional ribbons. Most recently on 16th and 17th of May 2026 she achieved 2nd place in Little League singles and alongside her teammate Ludo secured 1st place in the Little League pairs. Hopefully with continued practice especially on triggering the ball from the box she will make more progress.
Amazing work Tuppence! ✨
