More of those pesky grass seeds!
Otto was seen at our Warwick surgery after he started sneezing excessively following a walk. Vets Sarah and Emily used our endoscope (a small camera passed into his nose) to locate and successfully remove the grass seed causing the problem.
While Otto was under anaesthetic, nurse Becky investigated a small hole in one of his feet. Using her surgical nursing skills, Becky carefully enlarged the opening before thoroughly flushing the tract until she located and removed another grass seed.
As highly trained professionals, our nurses are involved in a wide range of procedures, from monitoring anaesthetics and carrying out advanced nursing procedures such as these. By having Becky treat Otto's foot while the vets removed the grass seed from his nose, both problems were dealt with during the same anaesthetic, which was carefully monitored throughout by nurse Rebecca. This collaborative approach meant Otto spent less time under anaesthetic while ensuring both grass seeds were safely removed.
We're delighted to say Otto is recovering well from his grass seed ordeal! 💚
🌱 After every walk, we recommend giving your dog a thorough check over, paying particular attention to their paws (including between the toes), ears and coat. Catching a grass seed early can help prevent a much bigger problem.
