🐾 A reminder about microchips — and a happy reunion story! 🐾

We’ve recently seen a rise in stray dogs and cats coming through our doors with either no microchip or outdated details. Not only does this make it much harder for us to reunite lost pets with their families, but it’s also a legal requirement for dogs and cats to be microchipped.
Please take a moment to check your pet’s microchip information — it really can make all the difference. 🐶🐱

We do, however, have a lovely success story to share!
Jynx was brought into our surgery after being found straying in Shrewley. Thanks to her microchip details being fully up to date, we were able to contact her owners straight away. She had been missing from Sutton Coldfield for a whole month — quite a distance from where she was found — and her family had feared the worst.

They were overjoyed to get our call, and Jynx was reunited with her family the very next day.
Here she is with nurse Sarah — her owners were a little camera shy! 🐾💚

Recently, our Warwick vets Ella and Roxie attended an advanced training course at the Mars Veterinary Training Centre in Milan 🌍

They focused on the surgical management of wounds, including tension-releasing techniques and skin flaps for treating large deficits. The course brought together veterinary professionals from across the UK and Europe and was led by a surgical specialist from Round House Vets in Glasgow.

In the group photo, Ella is in the centre of the back row, right underneath the word “Centre,” and Roxie is the one in burgundy scrubs with dark hair.

Vets are required to complete at least 30 hours of training each year to maintain their professional registration. Ella and Roxie continue to develop their skills to provide the best care for your pets. 🩺🐾

🚗 A different kind of post today — not vet-related!

Does anyone recognise this car?

It’s been left abandoned in our Heathcote car park and we’d love to get it moved. We’ve reported it through the proper channels, but we’re hoping the power of social media can help us track down the owner.

If you have any information, please call the Heathcote surgery on 📞 01926 337790.

🐾 – Nelly 🐾

This is Nelly, the sweetest Cocker Spaniel 🐶 She came to see us after having some unusual episodes where she would partially collapse while walking.

She had lots of investigations with our team before being referred for specialist tests. She was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Dyskinesia — a very rare movement disorder.

The good news? It doesn’t affect her life expectancy and is something she can happily live with. 🧡

Nelly is coping brilliantly and isn’t letting it get in the way of enjoying life. She's still full of energy, tail wags and cuddles. 🐶

Here she is with nurse Rebecca, one of her biggest fans! 🩺🐾

We absolutely adore her!

🐾 – Peggy 🐶

Lovely Peggy first visited our Wellesbourne surgery after showing signs of discomfort. She was found to have bladder stones.

Initially, a special diet was tried to dissolve the stones but unfortunately, this didn’t work and surgery became necessary.

This surgery can normally be carried out at our Wellesbourne surgery. However, due to staff shortage that day, Peggy was transferred to our Warwick surgery, where Vet Vicki (pictured) successfully removed two large stones from her bladder.

Bladder stones form when concentrated urine causes minerals to crystallise and stick together — they can cause ongoing discomfort if not treated.

We’re so pleased to say that Peggy is now back to her normal, happy self!

📸 Take a look at the photos — the size of the stones might surprise you!

🩺 – Theo 🐾

Theo recently visited our Warwick surgery after experiencing some worrying collapsing episodes.

He underwent a series of tests — all of which thankfully came back normal. To rule out cardiac arrhythmia, we fitted him with a Holter monitor - a special device that tracks heart rhythms over 24–48 hours.

📊 Thankfully, the results came back clear, and Theo is now feeling much better!

Here he is with Student Nurse Emilie, just after having his monitor fitted — being a very brave boy as always. 💚

Last year, we were gifted this beautiful wreath, kindly donated to our Wellesbourne surgery — here’s Theo proudly posing with it.

This year, we’ve received another wonderful creation: a dog made entirely from handmade purple poppies.
Both pieces were lovingly crafted by a local group in Wellesbourne and we’re so grateful for their thoughtful tributes. 💜

On Remembrance Day, we honour not only the people but also the animals who served and sacrificed alongside them. These beautiful purple poppy creations are a heartfelt reminder of their courage and the special bond we share with animals, both past and present.

Lest we forget. 💜❤️
