Friday 30/10/26 we received the news that one of our TNR (trap -neuter- release) cat Erica, who was released in a garden, was left outside Medivet in west byfleet.
We would like to know who kindly dropped her body off there so we can say thank you, as it allowed us to know her fate and get closure.
Erica was brought into us as a very scared and frightened stray. She lived with a foster for a month but It soon became clear that she wasn’t doing well indoors and we believed that she would be happier outdoors. So we decided to neuter and release her in August under the supervision of one of our team member .
In the short time she was with us as a wild cat she loved life. She came everyday for her food and would shout as us if we didn’t put the food down fast enough.
Sometimes as much as we try to rehabilitate them all, it is not possible to tame cats and and a home environment can be very stressful and distressing for them. Although a life outdoors is full of dangers, it is still the best option for them.
She had a wonderful short life as a free wild cat.
It has been a really tough week for us all at SSRH, but every single cat matters and we try to do the best for each of them on a case by case basis even if sometimes the emotional cost to us is hard to bear.
