Jazmin is nearly 4 months old and will be ready for adoption from the 8th of Jan (but can be reserved now). She is a lovely, gentle girl who loves cuddles but can also be independent when she wants to. She will fit well in most homes but will do better with another cat to keep her company.

When we took Maple to the vet yesterday for a routine castration, we didnā€™t know he is was one of a relatively low number of cats with one testicle.

A cat with one testicle has a condition called cryptorchidism, where one testicle fails to descend into the sc***um.

Cause: The condition is often congenital and appears to be an inherited genetic trait.

Health Risks: The retained testicle has an increased risk of developing cancer or experiencing testicular torsion (twisting of the spermatic cord), which is very painful and an emergency.

Behavior: Because the retained testicle still produces testosterone, even if the other is removed, the cat will exhibit normal non castrated male behaviors like aggression, musky odor, and urine spraying.

Treatment: The recommended treatment is surgical removal of both testicles (neutering) to prevent future complications and remove the genetic defect from the gene pool. The surgery is more complex than a standard neuter because the vet must locate the hidden testicle, which could be in the groin or abdomen.

Mapleā€™s game of ā€œfind the testiā€lasted a couple of hours but he is recovering well and having his first post-op check up tomorrow

Boris is a healthy ten-year-old, white cat who is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He would prefer the company of a mature individual or couple and would need outside access.
