Let's talk about a subject that is always on folks lips... Apparently, dog grooming is "too expensive." 😢

Groomers hear it all the time 🫣

The irony? Usually from someone who's just spent £100's at the beauty salon on themselves, £7 on a fancy coffee, whilst packing for their 3rd holiday of the year.... while explaining that £60 for their dog's full groom is "outrageous" . ☕💅💄✈️

Let me explain this slowly...

You're not paying ££'s for a 'bath and a quick trim'. 🛁🐾

You're paying for professional care, expertise, and everything that comes with it...

💸 The training and qualifications.

💸 The specialist equipment.

💸 The blades, scissors, shampoos, dryers and products.

💸 The electricity needed to run it all.

💸 The insurance, professional memberships & fees - NI & taxes.

💸 The endless cleaning and disinfecting between appointments, and the specialist pet-safe products needed to do it properly.

💸 The treats, cuddles and reassurance for nervous dogs.

💸 The years of experience needed to safely handle every coat type, temperament and wiggle.

💸 And the fact that when a matted Cockapoo arrives looking like it's wearing a carpet... it's me standing there for hours carefully and safely working through it, blunting my expensive blades and scissors . 😳 ✂️

You're not just paying for a quick bath & trim.

You're investing in your dog's comfort, health and wellbeing. ❤️

🐾 Helping prevent or remove painful matting.

🐾 Keeping their skin and coat healthy.

🐾 Ensuring their eyes, ears, nails and hygiene are properly maintained.

🐾 Giving them one-to-one care from someone who genuinely loves what they do!

Try cutting your own hair with kitchen scissors and see how that works out. 😂 (remember Covid shinanighans? We sure do!)....

Dog groomers aren't competing with a bottle of dog shampoo from the supermarket. 🛒

We're competing with the idea that professional care & service should somehow cost less than a takeaway!

And here's the bit that's fascinating...

The same people who say they adore their dogs, treat them like family, and want the very best for them... are often shocked when professional grooming comes with a professional price tag.

We don't sell a bath and a quick trim. 🛁

If you're looking for "cheap", there's always a hosepipe in the garden (weather permitting! ☔), the bathroom at home, and a bottle of supermarket shampoo - we get it... but don't be offended if we are out of your budget and please don't attempt to barter for our services... We aren't a used car dealer offering a trade-in!

Nearly all of you choose to pre-book appointments throughout the year to secure the preferred grooming Schedule, keeping your pooches in tip-top condition.

Once an appointment has been booked, it is the pawrent's responsibility to keep a record of the date and time.

If the next appointment has not been received for whatever reason, then please reach out to check - most of you do this if you've not received details and are very organised and contact me well in advance of holidays etc. 😊

Reminder messages are sent as a courtesy and should not be relied upon as the sole record of your pooches appointment.

Please ensure your pooches next appointment is added to your diary or calendar, as my cancellation policy will apply where insufficient notice is given.

I believe today is going to be the hottest of the week; please refrain from walking dogs to the salon (high risk of heat stroke and burnt paws) 😭

🌡️It's suggested to dampen dogs down whilst travelling in air conditioned vehicles to achieve the coolest and comfortable transport.

🌡️Make yourself familiar with signs of Heat Stroke and know what to do - Heat Stroke is an EMERGENCY and can become fatal very quickly.

Over and above this, if you prefer to rearrange, I will do my best to find my next soonest availability.

Remember - your dogs safety, health and welfare are my priority 🥰

With temperatures rising significantly, the wellbeing and safety of every dog in my care remains the highest priority 🥰

Some dogs are far more vulnerable to overheating, particularly:
🐶 Senior dogs
🐶 Brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies etc.)
🐶 Double-coated breeds
🐶 Dogs with underlying health conditions

To help keep everyone as safe and comfortable as possible during hotter weather:
❄️ The salon is air conditioned
💧 Fresh water is always available
🌬️ Dryer heat settings are switched off or kept to the coolest appropriate setting

🐾 Grooming appointments may occasionally need rearranging during extreme temperatures for vulnerable dogs or groom appointment timings may need to be changed and appointments may take longer .....

Please also be aware that, during very warm weather, some dogs may leave slightly damp or may not have their usual full fluffy finish. This is simply to avoid unnecessary heat and stress during the drying process.

Your dog’s comfort and safety will always come before cosmetic finish ✂️💛

VOLUME UP 🔊🔊🔊🔊...Meet dinky 'Dolly' ...

I'm rather smitten 😍 not going to lie ...she was sooooo lovely.

Dollys coat is rather damaged, so it will take time and lots of love and care to help restore it as best as possible - that journey started yesterday !

A conditioning shampoo and deep nourishing, hydrating conditioner all from Peanut & Pickle, she was an angel in the bath (literally almost fits in one hand she's so tiny) 🫧

Sounds a bit 'out there', but I felt an instant connection with Dolly, she looked deep into my soul and stole my heart immediately 🧡!

She was so good for the Deshed, detangle and dry - in fact she was rather giddy which was super cute (I forgot to video that part as I was chuckling ...sorry)... It took quite a bit of groomer magic to free her compacted coat and then it was a light scissor all over to neaten up, not taking too much off as we want her coat to grow back through.

I genuinely did 'squuueeee' when she was running around waiting for pickup.

Dolly will be rebooked on a regular schedule and along with work at home, we will do the best for her coat - I will try to remember to document her journey ....so keep your eyes peeled!

Tell me she's not utterly ADORABLE 😍

Can't wait to see her again 😘

Myself and Emily (with little Esme) visited the 'Great British Grooming Show' today - neither of us were competing, but we were in awe of all the fabulous competitors and gorgeously groomed dogs ✂️😍

As we weren't competing, our bank accounts took quite a hit as we were shopping for lovely grooming products and tools instead ✂️🫣 we had to leave early to stop ourselves becoming bankrupt 🤣 ..not even joking ....

Chloe & Shelby unfortunately couldn't make it today - ladies your purses will thank you for that let me tell you 👈 👛💰💷

So the upshot is, I have some very nice grooming products and tools that I can't wait to use in the salon this coming week 🫶

AND JUST HOW CUTE IS LOVELY LITTLE LILA? ..

Today we were going for a 'short, yet fluffy' look. This length and style is absolutely pawfect for active pooches. It's still giving fluff, but it's super easy to manage between grooms at home = win:win 🏆🫶

Lila was a little sweetheart as usual for her groom, but did make me chuckle showing her sassy side "shouting across the salon" to big boy Barney (✂️whom Emily Pawfection cutz was grooming✂️) - btw I think Barney's head is bigger than the whole of tiny little Lila... 🤣

Another of Lila's little grooming tricks is to have a micro-snooze when sc******ng up her face 💤 now that's just as cute as 😍
