Here at the Little Legs Dog Grooming School, we have a variety of hands-on professional dog grooming courses teaching modern dog grooming techniques, all operated from our training centre in Wakefield.

PUPPIES FIRST GROOM
You should start 'grooming' your puppy, at home, from 8 weeks and start professional grooming around 12 to 16 weeks of age, right after they finish their second or final round of vaccinations. Waiting past 16 weeks can make them fearful of the salon, .

At-Home and Early Prep
8 weeks old: Start short, positive handling sessions at home (touching paws, ears, and tail).
10 to 12 weeks old: Introduce brief brushing with a soft brush and use treats to build a good association.

Professional Salon Visits
12 to 16 weeks old: Book an introductory "puppy introduction" groom (short bath, gentle blow-dry, and face/paw trim) once cleared by your vet after vaccinations.
6 months and older: Transition to regular full-body haircuts and maintenance grooming every 6 to 8 weeks depending on the breed..

A big, warm welcome to Roxy, the German Shepherd and Ruby, the Show Cocker. Our new clients who came for their first groom with us today.
A 10 minute sniff around and quick play session helped relax them before their groom. Then, of course, there were lots of cuddles and yummy treats during the groom. Topped off with some play and socialisation while awaiting collection made the whole visit an enjoyable experience.
