Malig the Border Terrier 🐾✨

Malig is an older boy, so today’s hand strip was kept extra gentle and calm, making sure he was comfortable every step of the way.

I carefully removed the dead coat to restore his natural colour and texture, while being mindful of his age.

Such a sweet, gentle soul — it was a pleasure to spend time with him 💛 🐾

Pebbles came in for her regular groom today ☀️

Her lovely owner opted for a super short spring/summer clip, with her muzzle trimmed right down — perfect for the warmer months.

Just look at how her natural colours pop after her groom 😍 She looked absolutely gorgeous, and her owner was so happy with the result!

It’s not as scary as it sounds! At Leaps & Hounds, it’s actually one of my favourite ways to keep certain coats looking their absolute best.

Handstripping is a gentle technique where I carefully remove dead hair from your dog’s coat by hand (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt!).
This helps new, healthy hair grow through, keeps colours rich, and maintains that classic wiry texture—perfect for breeds like terriers.

Tilly the Maltese, such a good little lady 💛

Winnie the Bernadoodle popped in for her very first puppy groom at Leaps & Hounds and she was an absolute star! 🐾✨

She enjoyed a gentle bath and blow-dry, had her paws and pads neatened up, and her sweet face carefully shaped with scissors. Winnie took to her groom beautifully — such a calm, clever girl!

Afterwards, she treated herself to some well-earned chill time on the sofa with Cooper Dog. Puppy spa day done right 🐾🐕💛✨

🐾Grooming a Blind Dog🐾

Grooming a blind dog just takes a little extra care and communication 💛

It was a privilege to groom little Stevie Wonder, blind since a newborn pup. Thank you to his wonderful owner Tina, for trusting me with Stevie’s groom 💛

• I talk calmly and often – let them know where I am and what I’m about to do
• I let them safely, sniff tools first so nothing surprises them
• I use gentle, consistent touch and keep one hand on them for reassurance
• I move more slowly and avoid sudden noises or movements

Blind dogs, like the awesome Stevie Wonder, can still enjoy grooming when they feel safe, respected, and understood 🐕✨
