What I do in your pup's grooming appointment sets the foundation, but what happens in between appointments is what really keeps your dog comfortable. 🐶

Regular brushing at home is what prevents knots, reduces shedding build-up, and keeps everything manageable for both of you! 😀

Before your dog even gets on the table, there’s a lot you can do to make their groom easier 🐾

These small things might not seem like much, but they make a real difference to how settled your dog feels and how smoothly the appointment goes.

From arriving clean and ready, to giving them time to go to the toilet beforehand, it all helps create a calmer experience for everyone involved ✂️

I always aim to keep the environment as low-stress as possible, and your support with these little steps really helps make that happen.

You might not realise the difference until your dog experiences it… 🐾

With 1–1 grooming, your dog isn’t waiting around, dealing with lots of noise, or being handled by multiple people. It’s a quieter, more predictable environment where they can settle properly.

That means I can work at their pace, give them breaks if they need it, and focus on making the whole experience as calm and comfortable as possible ✂️

For many dogs, that’s the difference between just getting through a groom and actually feeling more relaxed about it.

“My dog hates brushing”… I hear this a lot 🐾
But more often than not, it’s not the brushing itself they’re reacting to — it’s how their coat feels underneath. Tight knots and trapped coat can make every stroke uncomfortable, so it’s no surprise they start to avoid it.

A proper reset can make a huge difference. When the coat is clean, dried properly, and brushed through correctly, it’s far easier (and more comfortable) to maintain at home ✂️

If brushing has become a bit of a struggle, it’s usually a sign something needs adjusting rather than pushing through it.

Transformation Tuesday for Lumi 🐾

This was Lumi’s first groom, and what a difference the right approach makes.
For a first appointment, it’s not just about the end result, it’s about introducing the process in a calm, positive way and setting the coat up to be manageable going forward.
Taking things back to a tidy, balanced length now means less knotting, easier brushing at home, and a much more comfortable experience next time ✂️

You can book your Dogs grooms up to a YEAR in advance with me - and it just means you’re always organised and guaranteed a space ✂️

Especially with me being away:
💕5th-8th June
☀️21st June - 6th July
🎂7th-11th August

You can always move appointments if needed - it just secures your spot and means your pup isn’t going to be left looking scruffy!

Groom Nelson with me using Shampoo & Conditioner 🛁

Nelson comes every 4 weeks and we alternate between a bath and a full groom so that we can keep his coat long, fluffy and tangle free!

Such a handsome boy - Louis isn’t the biggest fan of being groomed but since coming to Paddington’s Posh Paws we’ve not had to use a muzzle at all (something that was regularly used at his last groomers). I work steadily with Louis so he doesn’t feel rushed and so he doesn’t reach the point of being so overwhelmed that he feels that he needs to bite to feel heard. Good job Louis 🤩
