**HOW TO ADOPT FROM US**

If you'd like to adopt a cat/kitten, please complete the application form below. In your application please tell us about yourself, all the people and animals who live in the home, your working/activity patterns, the type of cat you're looking for and anything else that would be useful for us to know. This helps us to line up the perfect cat/kitten for you. Please state in your application if you are applying for a specific cat.

Suitable applications will be contacted to arrange a home check, then we arrange for you to visit the cat/kitten you have been matched with. Following this, the cat/kitten has a final health check with our vet and paperwork is sent out. When this is complete, it's time for you to take your new addition home!

The whole process can be as quick as 1 week but may take 2-3 weeks depending on our volunteers', vets' and your own availability. Please be patient with us as we are all volunteers who do the adoption process around our jobs, studies and families.

Our adoption donation is £120. This donation goes towards covering a small amount of the costs associated with getting a cat ready for adoption. All cats receive neutering, microchipping, a full health check, up-to-date flea and worm prevention and first vaccination. All kittens receive a full health check, up-to-date flea and worm prevention and first vaccination, with an agreement in place to bring them back to our vet for neutering and microchipping when they are big enough (the cost of this is included in the adoption donation).

Please note that we do not adopt cats/kittens on a "first come, first served" basis. We aim to match cats/kittens to the right homes based on their personalities and what you’ve told us.

Our lovely boy Ketley has been neutered today! He was an absolute superstar at the vets, and while he was under, they estimated this handsome man to be around 4 years young. He is just a young soul with so much beautiful life left to live! 👑🩹👇

To look at him wandering around so happily now, you would never guess the heartbreaking life he left behind. Before coming to us, Ketley was a lonely, unneutered tomcat just trying to survive the streets. He was constantly beaten up by the other cats—even the old neutered boys bullied him. With nowhere to go and no shelter to protect him, he would just stay sat outside, completely alone in the freezing, pouring rain. 🌧️😿💔

But those cold, lonely days are officially over. He will never have to face the storm by himself again.

We ran his routine bloods today, and because of his rough life on the streets, the results brought us a diagnosis that always makes our hearts ache: poor Ketley has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). 😔

In the past, people thought FIV meant a sad ending. But at Next Steps Cat Rescue, you already know our promise: we never give up on a cat, and we love them unconditionally, regardless of their issues. 🛑❤️

Ketley has absolutely no idea his bloodwork brought us this news. In fact, he isn't even resting! He is far too busy being the most charming, joyful boy, currently wandering around looking for food and hoping for a snack! He is incredibly food-orientated and will happily do anything for a tasty treat. He absolutely loves a fuss, leaning his whole weight into your hand, and to make him even more endearing, he is very chatty! He will walk right up to you, meowing away to ask you for his food, and he gives you the sweetest head bumps while you are trying to put it into his bowl! He is just so incredibly happy to finally be safe, fed, and loved. 🗣️🍗😻

📝 What does life look like now for our sweet talker
?FIV simply means Ketley has a slightly weaker immune system because of his tough past. To keep him safe, healthy, and thriving for years to come, he just needs a cozy indoor-only home where he can be pampered like the king he is. With a high-quality diet and a stress-free life of luxury, FIV cats can live completely normal, long, and beautifully happy lives! 🏠🛋️✨

Right now, Ketley is still a little groggy from his anesthetic, but he is chilling out somewhere cool, safe, and wrapped in pure love. He doesn't know he has a virus; he just knows that he is finally cherished and completely secure.

We are going to stand by this lovely, chatty boy every single step of the way. Welcome to the rest of your life, Ketley. No more rain. 🕊️❤️
