We have recovered from the fairly quickly. I used every towel, bunny fleece and p*e pads, used or clean, to barricade the living room and deal with the water coming in the kitchen.
A big thank you to those who took a towel wash or a bunny wash to their homes to help with the sheer amount of washes that needed to be done. We have mostly caught up now.

NO damage to the kitchen itself as we were able to get towels down before it could properly soak into the wood. just the pooled water where there are no tiles under the cupboards which is concrete, which we got mostly with towels that night and then Ashley came with a wet vac and got what we couldn't reach. BIG THANK YOU TO ASHLEY!
South staffs water have now installed an industrial dehumidifier in the kitchen to dry walls and floors for the week so we cannot have guests walking thru the kitchen atm (tubes and cables everywhere).

Living room is fine, no water got past the hall or back kitchen door. No just to dry out and get back to normal.

We have running water too they fixed it overnight so we are good for bathing guinea pigs today and as normal as we can be with 30+ animals in the house.

Bunny Service announcement..

As our kitchen is drying out from the flood we cannot have people walking thru the kitchen. We have a big dehumidifier behind the door and tubes and cables along the floor in the kitchen.

For next weeks arrivals and collections it will be door stop hand overs for back garden bunnies in cottages and kitchen, as everyone would have to come thru the living room.

I hope this is ok with everyone.

A massive thank you to Ashley who came with a wet vac and dehumidifier and helped get ours out the loft and took a bunny wash for us.
and to Kirsty who helped me feed and look after the Rabbits and piggies out in the back garden and took a bunch of towels to wash.

We still have 5-6 loads of bunny fleeces and p*e pads that we used to save the kitchen from the flood that need doing.

We do have running water not thankfully. So just cleaning and drying out to do.. and many many washes.

southstaffordshirewaters service team have not been yet to assess any damage in the kitchen and sort the front garden.

Emergency!!

Greatmead suffered a major water mains pipe burst this evening about 8pm. The Whole road including numbers 8-14 have all had extensive flooding. We have had the kitchen flooded and the front garden is a disaster zone. No animals were harmed or flooded. We evacuated the kitchen fast enough and got the kitchen now dry enough to get animals back in their kitchen pens. We do not have running water for the next few days so bare with us with cleaning and tidying as we are running on bottles water for the time being.

If anyone has an hour to spare tomorrow morning about 10ish would be very greatful if you can help with the clean up its gone midnight and we are still up cleaning and drying the house out.
If anyone has time to please help us out while this is our peak time we have 30+ animals here and we have no running water, no veggies chopped, feeding the animals, etc and we could really do with a hand with tidying the front garden.

Please no children tho the house is a disaster zone and the front garden is hazardous.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED. We cant give drinks as we dont have running water for Gods knows how long i do apologise.

Here are some photos, this is at the start of it at 8pm but 9pm we were underwater. i have no photos from then as it was panic stations evacuating animals downstairs.

Flystrike is a life-threatening risk for rabbits and guinea pigs during the warmer months.🐰🐹🪰

Check their bottoms twice daily to ensure they are clean and to identify any early signs of fly eggs or maggots.

A 'sticky bottom' not only increases the risk of flystrike but may also indicate issues with your rabbit's teeth or digestion.

Flystrike is an emergency that can worsen rapidly, so if in doubt, contact your vet immediately.
