Another clip all over, including legs! This is DeeDee, she is Mable’s sister! 🐾

Our fourth dog today and we took her short all over to reset her coat and remove stubborn mats in the arm pits and toes.

This is super important for some dogs who needs a good reset, building up good shape and full legs is actually very easy once the coat is set and prepped right. We can now manage DeeDee’s coat as it grows out to ensure she stays mat free, comfortable and clean!

The last of the trio today was Daisy - a lovely little Westie in for a proper clip, tidy up and fresh start with her new coat.

Consistency grooming can remove these brown spots from dogs with a white coat, we worked these out as much as we could today and will hopefully get another chance on her next trip to us!

Next up, we have Lily - the other Schnauzer in our trio this morning. We did the exact same, short on the legs and body, with some weight left on the head for that classic look.

The decision to go short on the legs was down to two things - matting on the legs and time between grooms. These dogs live on the islands and don’t get groomed as often as they would like, living wild and running in long grass, keeping them short and starting fresh was the request for today!

They will both be feeling much fresher, cooler and have more movement going home 🩵

One third of our triple sessions this morning, we took Poppy right back as she lives on the islands and she won’t get to see us as much as we’d like. Short on the body, legs and underbelly - and Maisey did a beautiful Schnauzer cut on the face.

Soft Sessions - Grooming for Senior, Blind or Deaf Dogs 🩵

Today we had the pleasure of seeing Ginger. She is completely blind and partially deaf, so she came in to see us for a Soft Session with her brother Walter.

Working with a blind dog comes with a few challenges - Ginger was in an unfamiliar environment and can't navigate her way around, she can't see us coming and she doesn't know what is happening to her.

We got lucky, because she already loves a bath and brush, so this is what we focused on. Ginger came to us to make her a little more comfortable, clipping some mats out, trimming her back for temperature regulation and tidying up her mouth and face.

The goal here was comfort and care, not aesthetics. So, did the most basic grooming we could, brushing, clipping with a guard, keeping her long. We tidied up her legs and paws, trimmed her beard and ears, and gave her a warm shower and good towel dry.

Ginger was carried around the entire time, and rested on the couch. Maisey worked on Walter, when Amber took care of Ginger and make sure she was never on her own!

She left happy, healthy and successfully groomed.
