All About Second Chance Animal Rescue:

Hi my name is John, I am the founder member of Second Chance Animal Rescue in Crockenhill, or SCAR as it’s become known as by our volunteers & supporters. I have been caring and rescuing animals on a small scale for as long as I can remember, first at home with my parents, then from my own garden until finally in 2011 I was lucky enough to find a small plot

of land in Crockenhill. Wherever possible we do try and find a new forever home for the animals but if that is not possible then they are allowed to live out their life at the rescue. Our ethos “is live and let live”, these animals have suffered prior to reaching SCAR, so should be allowed to have a happy life enjoying freedom and enrichment that SCAR has to offer. SCAR is registered with the Charity Commission. We are always grateful of any support anyone can provide the rescue with. We always need sheds, building materials, animal bedding, and feed. If you think that you could possibly help in any way please get in touch either by telephone or email. Anyone wishing to come and see what we are doing and meet the animals is more than welcome, but this is by prior arrangement only. MEET BELLE, an 18 month old sweetheart with endless love to give! Belle’s a very gentle, affectionate lap cat who adores nose boops, cosy snuggles and being the center of attention. Full of energy and always ready to play, Belle can happily chase toys for hours before curling up for a cuddle. She loves treats, thrives on affection and would make a wonderful companion for a family with children.

Dobby our very naughty boy is getting ready for the world cup which starts so very soon. Normally anything different in their enclosure is viewed with a bit of trepidation before they embrace it fully but not for our adventurer! Dobby loves a new toy and happily played footie , dribbling and scoring . He is definitely the sporty one of the team . It stopped him from trying to escape for while too. X

Our two very special boys ! Joey is such a sweetheart and has settled so well with us . He loves a fuss and will come up to everyone for a stroke or bum scratch. If you are in the field with him and have a wheelbarrow poo picking he will knock it over just to get attention .

Tyson has continued to thrive and looks absolutely beautiful, stunning and handsome . He hasn't been any trouble and has come through the winter and spring with plenty of cover on him . We haven't had to get him in at all and only comes in the yard for checkups and farrier visits. He happily would stay in the yard being brushed and pampered and is very reluctant to go back in his field . He lives with two other horses and can chat over the fence to the others .
We are so proud of our boys and I am sure you will all agree x

Two of our ferrets got a new hammock bed and they don't just like it ....they love it ! They can fight like cat and dog ...

Two of our ferrets got a new hammock bed and they don't just like it ....they love it ! They can fight like cat and dog then snuggle up as best friends which is so sweet to see. Sometimes it's hard to tell how many are cuddled up and they will lay quite happily on top of each other . Ferrets are very smelly but it doesn't seem to bother them ! They are such amusing creatures and we can spend far too long watching their antics x
