Dog walking in summer, you think it would be amazing! Actually, it’s our hardest time of the year for us☀️ “I’d love to play with dogs in the sun all day” when actually we hardly do because it is too hot.

A lot of people don’t envy us in the winter. But I’d take a winter walk in the snow over this any day of the week.
As a business it’s the hardest:
Holidays - if I go on holiday that’s zero income for that time on holiday. Clients go on holiday that’s reduced income for that week.
Heat - if it’s too hot I can’t walk dogs which is cancelled/reduced income all together. A lot of people think dog walking is a hobby. For some it is, for me it isn’t. It’s my life, my business, my only income, I take it very seriously. Constantly working on improving myself and my business.

But, the income is not my biggest worry - I’m constantly worrying about how all of my dogs are coping in this heat 😢 When I come home for the day, my day isn’t over. I’m worrying about my dogs, rearranging days because of the heat then probably reorganising again.
I’m working in 30°c heat doing drop in visits. hardly sleeping at night, sunrise starts and midnight walks.

Yes in the winter, I often can’t feel my hands/feet and often covered in mud. But, I’m not worrying about the safety of my dogs, worrying if they’re overheating, if the ground is too hot, I’m not melting myself and income is great.
If you have a dog walker - give them a hug this week. This will be their hardest week they’ve ever had.
I know I couldn’t have gotten through this week without my amazing clients.🥹
The love and appreciation you have shown me has been overwhelming. I am very very lucky to have such an amazing, supportive and appreciative little community🥰
Nobody has been upset that I haven’t been able to do any walks over the last couple of days (believe me some people don’t understand that you can’t walk their dog in 30°c heat!).
So a massive THANK YOU to all of my clients for your love, support, help and understanding. It does not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. If anybody wants any help and tips. You know where I am.
And from the bottom of my heart a massive thank you, you are all the BEST.
