Why a Calm Mind is Essential for Effective Dog Training
For dogs to learn effectively, they need to be in a calm, balanced state of mind. When a dog is highly aroused, excited, anxious or fearful, their ability to process and retain new information is significantly reduced. Instead, they become fixated on whatever is causing the excitement or distraction, making training far less productive.
This understanding was the driving force behind the development of Composed K9.
In March 2020, during the Covid pandemic, we partnered with an Oxford University supplement company to develop a premium, all-natural supplement using human-grade ingredients. Our goal was to create a daily supplement that supports both behaviour and overall wellbeing.
The benefits of Composed K9 include:
* Calming Support
Contains carefully selected ingredients including L-Tryptophan, Valerian Root and Chamomile, which help promote a calmer state of mind, reduce arousal levels and provide support during fearful or stressful situations.
* Natural Flea Support
Contains Brewer's Yeast, which is traditionally used as a natural addition to support skin health and help make dogs less attractive to fleas.
* Healthy Skin & Coat
Supports healthy skin and promotes a glossy, shiny coat.
* Digestive Support
Includes ingredients to help maintain healthy digestion and firm stools. This is particularly beneficial for puppies trying new training treats, dogs travelling, or those experiencing temporary digestive upset associated with changes in routine or mild stress.
Easy to Use
Composed K9 comes as a fine powder that is simply sprinkled onto a small amount of wet food once each day, making it easy to incorporate into your dog's daily routine.
Ideal for Everyday Life
Many owners choose to use Composed K9 all year round, while others find it particularly helpful during periods of increased stress, such as fireworks season, moving home, travelling, introducing a new family member or other significant changes in routine.
My own dog, Gus, has Composed K9 every day. As Gus came to us after three previous homes, he can naturally be a little shy and sensitive. I've personally noticed a difference in his confidence and overall demeanour when he is taking the supplement consistently, and it's become an important part of his daily routine.
While no supplement replaces good training, appropriate socialisation and responsible ownership, supporting your dog's emotional wellbeing can help them be in the best possible frame of mind to learn, cope with everyday challenges and enjoy life.
