Kate started as an apprentice saddler in 1987 where she was trained in saddlery, bridlework, harness and military police horse saddlery. Since then has attended several courses and undertaken further training as her original employer would not allow her to take exams in fear that she would set up business. She is completely independent and prides herself on being able to 'think outside the box'. K

ate was allowed to slide in and produce work directly into level 3 City & Guilds. She has also attended further courses and is a level 3 qualified saddle maker and level 3 qualified bridle maker. In 2022 She is due to be attending her harness making courses and side saddle building courses among other courses. Kate always puts the horse first, hense the latin on her logo 'Tueri Et Protegere Equos' which means 'To serve and protect horses'

Very sad to say that Straussie, our stunning peacock passed sway yesterday evening very suddenly. He gave many a visiting customer a fine display and much pleasure as he did us. I will miss him so much and was never far away, watching me through the window or tapping on the workshop door and coming in for digestives. RIP beautiful boy 💔

High quality repairs to a vast range of leatherwork including side saddle, astride saddles, reflocks, girth straps, bridlework, headcollars to handbags and bellows!

All kind of bespoke work too from bridlework to belts and dog collars.

I am a traditionally trained and fully insured Master Saddler. The shop is open 11-4 Thursday to Saturday every week and is located in the cabins in the Fletchers Garden Village shops at Fletchers Family Garden Centre in Eccleshall. About half a mile from Eccleshall saddlery.

A huge thank you to everyone that made this evening possible. From Suzie for her time, kindness and knowledge, the staff at Fletchers Family Garden Centre, the wonderful tea rooms. and to each and every person that took the time and trouble to join us in our ‘A tale of two Saddlers’ talk. We had a packed room and couldn’t fit more in if we tried!

We were joined by live stream audiences from the UK, Canada, America, Australia and France to name a few countries. We hope you all had fun.
Both Suzie and I said what a wonderfully warm and friendly audience everyone was. What a blast! It was great to fly the flag about the saddlery trade, leather in general and why it’s so important to keep these traditional skills going! Thank you! ❤️
