Summer came to us after her owners noticed she wasn't moving comfortably and wasn't able to run the way she should.

She was later diagnosed with hip dysplasia and severe arthritis, which had started to affect her movement and confidence.

Since starting hydrotherapy, we've focused on keeping her strong, comfortable and active for as long as possible.

Now?

She's back to running around, enjoying life and doing the things she loves again 🐾

Even better, her vets have been over the moon with the progress she's made.

Hip dysplasia is one of the most common conditions we see and while it can't be cured, there is often so much we can do to help.

Our goal isn't just to improve mobility. It's to help dogs stay comfortable, active and able to keep doing the things they enjoy for as long as possible.

That's where hydrotherapy and laser therapy can make such a difference.

By improving strength, supporting painful joints and making movement feel easier, we can help many dogs continue enjoying walks, playing and everyday life more comfortably.

Every dog is different, which is why we tailor rehabilitation around the individual dog, their condition and what they need most.

"My dog sits funny and seems uncomfortable..." is something we hear surprisingly often.

For some dogs, hip dysplasia can be quite obvious. For others, the signs creep in gradually and can be easy to miss.

You might notice they're slower getting up, reluctant to jump into the car, sitting differently, or just not moving quite like they used to.

Sometimes owners tell us they seem stiff after resting, have a bit of a sway through their hips when walking, or have started bunny hopping when they run.

If you're noticing changes in the way your dog moves, it's always worth speaking to your vet. Catching problems early can make a big difference.

The biggest mistake we see with hip dysplasia is assuming nothing can be done.

A diagnosis isn't the end of the road, it's just the start!

We see so many dogs with hip dysplasia continue to build strength, improve their mobility and stay active for years with the right support.

The problem is that when people are told "they have hip dysplasia", they often assume they just have to live with it.

And that's when things can start to deteriorate unnecessarily.

💭 What was the first thing you thought when your dog was diagnosed?

A lot of people assume slowing down is just part of getting older, but we see so many dogs become more comfortable, confident and active again once they’re getting the right support.

Hydrotherapy gives older dogs a safe way to move without putting as much pressure on painful joints, which is why it can make such a big difference for stiffness, weakness and mobility issues.

And because every dog is different, sessions are always adapted around what your dog needs and what they’re comfortable with.

Sometimes it’s not about making them act like a puppy again but about helping them enjoy life more comfortably 🐾

One of the saddest things about mobility issues in older dogs is how gradually they can stop doing the things they once loved.

Sometimes it’s little things at first. They don’t want to walk as far, they stop following you around as much, they hesitate before jumping up, or they seem less interested in exploring.

And because it happens slowly, a lot of people assume it’s “just old age”.

But often, older dogs stop doing the things they love because movement has started becoming uncomfortable for them.

💬 What’s one thing your dog doesn’t do as much anymore?

Just because a dog is getting older doesn’t mean we should stop helping them feel comfortable.

One thing I really don’t like hearing is “they’re just old now”, because so many older dogs are quietly struggling with stiffness, weakness, or discomfort that people assume is just part of ageing.

Yes, dogs slow down as they get older, but that doesn’t mean they stop deserving support to move well and enjoy life.

We see older dogs make amazing progress all the time 💦

💬 Have you ever been told your dog is “too old” for treatment or rehabilitation?

Buzz came to us after strict rest post-op - which left him weaker, less active and struggling to enjoy his walks again.

We started gently with hydrotherapy sessions focused on rebuilding strength, improving mobility and helping him regain confidence in his body again.

Bit by bit, Buzz started moving more comfortably, walking further and enjoying himself again.

Now he’s getting back to doing what he loves - and his owners can see the difference in both his movement and happiness
