🤍🕊️ No one talks about the grief of a dog groomer.
We post the fresh cuts.
The goofy tongue out Tuesdays , We celebrate the puppies and the glow-ups and the transformations.
But we don't often talk about the "last groom."
The 2-year clients.
The 5-year regulars.
The 10-year souls who grew gray on our tables.
We know their quirks.
Which paw they don't like touched.
How they lean into the brush when they trust you.
The way they look back at their person before going to through the door.
We've watched them grow up.
We've watched them slow down.
And sometimes, we're asked to make them beautiful one last time.
We trim gently around tumors.
We work slower for tired hips.
We whisper "good boy" or "good girl" a little more than usual.
We send them home soft and clean and loved.
Then one day... they don't come back.
Dog groomers grieve, too. Quietly. In between appointments. In the pause after seeing their name still in the phone book when your scrolling to find Another client , th correspondence between the dog parents who are not only clients but become friends.
Because they weren't "just clients."
They were part of our days. Our routines.
Our hearts.
So if you've ever trusted a groomer with your senior dog - know that we loved them too.
And when you lose them, a small piece of us feels that loss right alongside you 🕊️ 🤍
