🐾 Puppy Love at Holbeach & Fleet Vets! 🐾

We had these adorable little visitors in the clinic recently and we couldn’t resist sharing their cuteness! 🐶💕

While puppies bring lots of cuddles, fun, and a little bit of chaos, it’s also a really important time to make sure they get the best start in life.

Two key things every puppy needs early on are vaccinations and a microchip:

💉 Vaccinations
Puppies need a course of vaccinations to protect them from serious diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis, and infectious hepatitis. These illnesses can be life-threatening but are preventable with the right protection. Vaccinations usually start from around 8 weeks of age.

📍 Microchipping
In the UK it is a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped by 8 weeks old. A microchip is a tiny chip placed just under the skin between the shoulder blades. It contains a unique number that can be scanned if your dog ever gets lost, helping reunite them with you quickly.

🐾✨ Golden Retriever Fun Facts! ✨🐾

Golden Retrievers are one of the most loved dog breeds in the world, and it’s not hard to see why! Here are some fun facts about these beautiful, friendly pups:

🐶 They were originally bred in Scotland to retrieve game from water during hunts – which is why they usually love swimming! 🌊

🧠 They’re incredibly intelligent. Golden Retrievers are one of the easiest breeds to train and are often used as guide dogs, therapy dogs, and search and rescue dogs.

🎾 They love carrying things in their mouths. Because they were bred to retrieve game gently, many Goldens will happily carry toys, socks… or anything they can find!

✨ Their “golden smile” is real. Many Golden Retrievers actually appear to smile when they’re happy, which is just one more reason people fall in love with them.

Starting your puppy’s healthcare early helps them grow into a happy, healthy adult dog 🐕✨

If you’ve recently welcomed a puppy into your family and would like advice on vaccinations, microchipping, parasite control, or puppy health checks, our team is always happy to help.

🐾 Is Your Pet’s Smile as Healthy as It Looks? 🐾

Dental disease is one of the most common problems we see in dogs and cats, and it often goes unnoticed until it’s causing real discomfort. Bad breath, red gums, dropping food, or reluctance to chew can all be signs that something isn’t right.

At Holbeach and Fleet Veterinary Clinic, we’re here to help keep those tails wagging and whiskers twitching with healthy, pain-free mouths.

If you’re unsure about your pet’s dental health, book a FREE nurse dental check with our team, and a 10% discount offer. Prevention is always better (and kinder) than cure.

🐾 Tiny Paws, Big Lessons 🐾

This is Maisie, an 11-week-old puppy who found out the hard way that the world can be a bit tricky when you’re small 💔
After a little accident at home, Maisie fractured three tiny metacarpal bones in her front paw.

Puppies are naturally curious, wobbly, and full of bounce — but their bones are still very soft and fragile at this age. Things like jumping off the sofa, slipping on shiny floors, walking under our feet, or over-excited play can sometimes lead to injuries before we even realise there’s a risk.

Maisie has been incredibly brave, her paw is now nicely supported, and she’ll be spending the next few weeks mastering the art of rest, cuddles, and gentle play 🩹🐾

Accidents like this can happen so easily, especially with curious, bouncy puppies who are still finding their feet. We’re wishing Maisie a smooth and speedy recovery and can’t wait to see her back to her playful self very soon 🐶💕
