🌞🐾 Heatwave Warning for Pet Owners 🐾🌞

With temperatures set to soar over the coming days, we’re already seeing pets struggling with the heat.

Please remember:

🐶 Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening.
🌳 Always provide access to shade and fresh water.
🚗 Never leave pets in cars, even for a few minutes.
🐾 Check pavements with the back of your hand – if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🐰 Keep rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets cool with frozen water bottles wrapped in towels and plenty of shade.

Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, collapse, or difficulty breathing. Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.

If you’re concerned about your pet, please contact the practice immediately.

🐾 Milo's TPLO Journey 🐾

A big well done to handsome Milo, who recently visited us for TPLO surgery with our Orthopaedic Surgeon. 🦴💙

TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) is a specialised procedure used to treat cruciate ligament injuries in dogs, helping to restore stability to the knee joint and get them back to enjoying their favourite activities.

Milo was an absolute superstar throughout his surgery and recovery with us, and we're delighted to see him doing so well. 🌟

Now comes the important part – plenty of rest, controlled exercise, and lots of love at home while he continues his recovery journey. 🐕❤️

We wish Milo a smooth recovery and can't wait to see him back for his follow-up visits!

These gorgeous fox red Labrador puppies visited us recently for their first vaccinations 🐾❤️

They were incredibly brave, full of tail wags, and very happy to soak up plenty of cuddles from the team afterwards! We absolutely loved meeting them and watching their confident little personalities shine through.

We can’t wait to see them again as they grow 🐶✨

🐾 Puppy Love at Holbeach & Fleet Vets! 🐾

We had these adorable little visitors in the clinic recently and we couldn’t resist sharing their cuteness! 🐶💕

While puppies bring lots of cuddles, fun, and a little bit of chaos, it’s also a really important time to make sure they get the best start in life.

Two key things every puppy needs early on are vaccinations and a microchip:

💉 Vaccinations
Puppies need a course of vaccinations to protect them from serious diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis, and infectious hepatitis. These illnesses can be life-threatening but are preventable with the right protection. Vaccinations usually start from around 8 weeks of age.

📍 Microchipping
In the UK it is a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped by 8 weeks old. A microchip is a tiny chip placed just under the skin between the shoulder blades. It contains a unique number that can be scanned if your dog ever gets lost, helping reunite them with you quickly.

🐾✨ Golden Retriever Fun Facts! ✨🐾

Golden Retrievers are one of the most loved dog breeds in the world, and it’s not hard to see why! Here are some fun facts about these beautiful, friendly pups:

🐶 They were originally bred in Scotland to retrieve game from water during hunts – which is why they usually love swimming! 🌊

🧠 They’re incredibly intelligent. Golden Retrievers are one of the easiest breeds to train and are often used as guide dogs, therapy dogs, and search and rescue dogs.

🎾 They love carrying things in their mouths. Because they were bred to retrieve game gently, many Goldens will happily carry toys, socks… or anything they can find!

✨ Their “golden smile” is real. Many Golden Retrievers actually appear to smile when they’re happy, which is just one more reason people fall in love with them.

Starting your puppy’s healthcare early helps them grow into a happy, healthy adult dog 🐕✨
