Dog safety in the Sun

💧 Walk your dog early in the morning, or later in the evenings - this is typically when the temperature is lower and more comfortable for your dog to exercise in.

💧 Be mindful of your dog’s paw pads when walking on surfaces such as tarmac, concrete, and pavements that can become dangerously hot. You can carefully test the temperature with the back of your hand for around five seconds - if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!

💧 Keep your dog's water bowl topped up with cool, fresh water – and take a supply with you if you go out.

💧 Many dogs love swimming, but be especially careful in the hot weather - keep your dog out of stagnant water because of the risk of blue-green algae, and always be aware of currents in the water source.

The bank holiday weekend vibes may be good for us humans but please be VERY careful with your pooches 🥵

Walk in the early morning or late evening, do not leave your dog in your car for any period of time and keep an eye on signs of heatstroke and contact us immediately if you think your dog may be suffering from it ‼️
