Many dog owners are surprised to learn that temperatures as low as 23°C (73°F) can be dangerous for dogs—especially breeds with flat faces, thick coats, or health conditions.
🕰️ The safest times to walk in summer are early morning or late evening, when it’s cooler.
✋ Always do the 5-second pavement test: place the back of your hand on the pavement—if it’s too hot to hold for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog.

Keeping walks safe isn’t just about temperature—it’s about timing, shade, hydration, and knowing your dog’s limits. Stay cool and walk smart! 🐶💧🌳

🐾 The RSPCA is warning pet owners that even short walks put them at risk of severe problems such as heatstroke and burnt paws.

A spokesperson said: “Walking your dog in hot weather can be extremely dangerous for your furry companion! If in doubt, don’t go out!

The weekend's shaping up to be a scorcher, with yellow heat warnings in place across parts of the UK.
☀️ Did you know 75% of heatstroke cases in dogs are caused by exercising on a hot day?
Please avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day. Instead, head out early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler.
