✨️Harvey the Hero✨️

Harvey was awarded the Braveheart award and our staff couldn't be happier for him🏆

He had to undergo an emergency surgery due to a life threatening condition. Harvey was diagnosed with a ruptured spleen that caused severe internal bleeding🏥

️Even though splenic tumours are the most common cause for a splenic rupture, in Harvey's case the histology results came back as clear! No underlying tumour for the bravest boy🙌

Harvey will be celebrating his 12 year of age soon and still acts, runs and jumps like a puppy!!🥳

Harvey you are the best and we couldn't be prouder of how well you coped with everything during this challenging time❤️🫶✨️

🌡Safety tips to keep your pets safe during extreme heat☀️:

○Hydration & Cooling

🧊 Fresh Water: Provide multiple bowls of fresh water, and toss in a few ice cubes to keep it refreshingly cool throughout the day.

🌳Create Shade: If they are outdoors, ensure they have access to natural shade (trees, canopies) or a well-ventilated shelter. Avoid stuffy conservatories, greenhouses, or outbuildings where temperatures can spike.

🚿Cooling Aids: Provide damp towels for them to lie on or consider investing in a cooling mat.

○Sun & Skin Protection

🧴Sunscreen: Just like humans, pets can get sunburned. Apply pet-safe sun balm or child-safe sun cream to exposed, unpigmented areas like the tips of the ears and the nose.

✂️Grooming: Regularly groom your pet to remove shedding winter undercoats. However, avoid shaving double-coated breeds, as their fur actually insulates them against both heat and cold.

○Walking & Exercise

🚶‍♂️Walk your dog during the cooler, early morning or late evening hours.

○Cat Specifics

🐈 Because cats like to find cool, dark places to snooze, always double-check sheds, garages, and greenhouses before locking them up to prevent heat trapping

✨️Meet Toni✨️

Our team is growing 🙌

Toni is our new amazing Nurse that joined our Medivet Solihull team in April.🩺
Previously she worked at a very busy practice for 4 years, where she also qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2024.
Toni enjoys consultations as she gets to meet new people and their furry friends. She is also "a serial dog and cat face squisher" and a big fan of large dog breeds🐾.
Her aim is to be a great nurse who helps as many patients and clients as possible throughout her journey. Her dream is to contribute in wildlife conservation as she wants to protect wild species and prevent biodiversity loss🌏🫶
