Bank Holiday walks… which isn’t usually a thing around here! 🐾🌾

But with Ruby caring for Oscar on a homestay at his, Flo joining us, my two Billy & Jean along for the ride, and Ronnie & Dottie due their usual Monday walk, we ended up with quite the full house at the dog field.

And apparently we’ve got a new bromance brewing… Ronnie, Oscar & Billy were absolutely inseparable. 😂💙 The three of them just could not stop playing together.

It was gloriously breezy up there, with plenty of sunshine, moody skies and long grass blowing everywhere. Somehow we even managed to dodge the rain!

Lots of running, wrestling, sniffing and very happy dogs.

Pretty much the perfect Bank Holiday as far as I’m concerned. 💚🐶

🐾 WE NEED YOU! 🐾

Volunteers desperately needed ❤️

Our rescue is incredibly busy, and right now we are short of volunteers across almost every area of the rescue. Our animals rely on our wonderful volunteer team every single day, and we really need some extra helping hands. 🐷🐐🐑🐔🦆🦔🦊

⏰Our main volunteer hours are between 9am–1pm daily, and this is when we aim to get all the essential jobs done — feeding, cleaning, caring for the animals and making sure everyone is happy and healthy.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering but weren’t sure when we needed people, here’s where we’re currently short:

🐾 MONDAY
We need volunteers in the wildlife hospital and with our outside large animals, including — sheep, goats, pigs and chickens.

🐾 TUESDAY
We need help with ferrets, small birds aviaries , and the wildlife hospital.

🐾 WEDNESDAY
We’re short of people across all our outside areas, including both small and large animals.

🐾 THURSDAY
We need volunteers for the small bird aviaries and the wildlife hospital

🐾 FRIDAY
We’re short of people across all our outside areas, including both small and large animals and the wildlife hospital

🐾 SATURDAY
We need help with the large animals, and the wildlife hospital

🐾 SUNDAY
We are short everywhere! 😢
Large animals, small animals and the wildlife hospital all need volunteers.

💚 You don't have to be an animal expert.
You don't need to know everything before you start — we'll show you what to do. What matters most is that you’re reliable, caring and willing to get stuck in.

Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding, and you'll be helping us provide the care, cleaning, feeding, love and attention that our animals need every single day. 🥰

Even one regular morning a week, from 9am–1pm, could make a huge difference to us and to the animals in our care. ❤️

🐾 NEW FOR SEPTEMBER – CAT CARE VISITS 🐾

From the beginning of September, The Dog Walker Slaithwaite is officially expanding into cat care visits. 🐈‍⬛💚

You don’t need to be an existing dog-walking client to book. Whether you’re out for the day, away for a weekend or heading off on holiday, we can pop in and make sure your cats are happy, comfortable and well cared for in their own home.

🐱 30-minute visits – £10 per visit

Visits can include: • Feeding and fresh water
• Litter tray care
• Medication where agreed
• Play and enrichment
• Cuddles, company or simply a quiet reassuring presence
• Photo and WhatsApp updates after each visit

And we’ve already had some lovely feedback from one of our first cat-care families:

💍🐾 Wedding Duties for Bonnie

A slightly different kind of dog walking day today… wedding chaperone for the absolutely beautiful Bonnie! ❤️

This gorgeous Golden Retriever looked stunning in her white collar and lead as I took her to join her humans for some very special wedding photos and plenty of cuddles. Once her duties were done, we headed off for a good long walk around Meltham Catch before home for dinner and a few more cuddles.

I’ve only met Bonnie twice, but what an absolute dream she is — beautiful nature, fabulous company and recall completely on point. I could quite happily have brought her home with me! 😂❤️

An unusual request? Maybe. But if it means a much-loved dog gets to be part of such a special day… why not? 🐾💍

Huge congratulations to the happy couple — and I’m definitely hoping beautiful Bonnie and I meet again. ❤️

Four dogs. Four opinions. Absolutely no chance of reaching a unanimous decision.

🐾 A Little Company Goes a Long Way 🐾

Our 30-minute home visits are perfect for those days when your dog just needs a little extra care at home — whether you’re working a long day, heading out with the family or simply going to be away longer than usual.

We can pop in for:
🐶 Toilet breaks
💧 Fresh water & feeding
🦴 Treats and enrichment
🎾 A little playtime
❤️ Or simply some company, cuddles and fuss

Every dog is different, so the visit is all about what they need — sometimes that’s a game and a potter around the garden, and sometimes it’s just having someone there for a bit of company.

A simple way to break up their day and make being home alone that little bit nicer. 🏡🐾
