Phew, what a scorcher!

Owning a horse is hard work at the best of times, but a heatwave really turns up the heat.

How are you keeping your best friend and yourself happy and cool? (Please share yours in the comments below)

Here are a few of our favourite ways.

☀️Change your turnout time. If your horse is usually out by day, try flipping it so he is out in the cooler hours and tucked away from the midday sun and the flies.

☀️Water, water, water. Keep fresh, cool water topped up in the field and stable, and check those troughs often.

☀️Find the shade. Trees or a field shelter give your horse somewhere to escape the sun.

☀️Cool him down. A gentle sponge or hose over the neck and legs works wonders (for both him and you!!)

☀️Ride smart. Early mornings and evenings are your friend, and in our opinion the best times to ride in any weather! But remember to go easy on the really hot days.
