🎉 Congratulations to our incredible nurse Jo 🎉
We’re bursting with pride as Jo officially completes her Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Canine Behavioural Management, a testament to her dedication, compassion, and curiosity.
Jo’s journey into behaviour began with Luna, a poorly puppy rescued from the RSPCA. Once nursed back to health, Luna made it clear she wasn’t going anywhere, and the bond was sealed. But Luna also showed signs of resource guarding, and Jo made it her mission to understand why dogs behave the way they do, and how we can help them feel safe, confident, and understood.
That mission grew into a passion: helping dogs thrive emotionally and socially, and giving owners the tools to shape confident, well-rounded companions. Today, Jo’s work is backed by an ABTC-recognised qualification, meaning she meets the highest standards set by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council.
💡 So what does a canine behaviourist do?
Unlike a dog trainer who focuses on teaching specific cues or obedience, a behaviourist works with the emotional state behind the behaviour, addressing issues like anxiety, aggression, reactivity, or fear. Jo offers behavioural house visits through Abbey Vets, where she assesses the dog in their home environment and creates tailored plans to support long-term wellbeing.
Her goal? To help owners understand how their dogs communicate, and to guide them in reshaping behaviour through empathy, science, and trust.
🐾 If you’ve ever felt unsure about your dog’s behaviour, or want to help them feel happier and more secure, Jo’s here to help.
Please join us in congratulating Jo for her hard work, heart, and unwavering commitment to pets and their people. 💜
